Yeah, very taxing previously because always have to clean up after them. It is better now with the waste system. I am more occupied with personal matters.
It is very hard to divide your time equally when you have many pets. That is why I always keep the number at minimum so that I do not have to spend more time cleaning than spending time with them. But they are great joy to have and knowing that they can help improve the quality of the breed in Malaysia is definitely a plus and consolation. That is why I always have high regards for breeders who have hundreds and still able to make time to handle each and everyone. Many are just left in the cages and I hope mine doesn't come to that stage. QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jul 1 2008, 12:46 PM) hehe i knew i was right somewhere i can't imagine 5 of my bambi's running around, trying to get them into their cages would be madness! QUOTE(lm_meileng @ Jul 1 2008, 01:16 PM) Yap, for me, two is just nice, i am still no confidence in handling more than 3, may be in the future if i am full time hse wife, i will hv more time to take care more than 3 or 4 or 5 bunnies, cos i want to make sure each and everyone of my buns are well taken care of.......... QUOTE(nicoty_yne @ Jul 1 2008, 01:22 PM) i have 4 bunnies.. as a working lady, it might be a bit difficult to devide their run-hour time equally.. |

Hi eelaine,
I understand that you want to get rabbit for your children. But the actual fact is that you must ask yourself if you are willing to take care of them because children may get bored and you may end up being the one caring for the rabbit. So you may have more things to handle besides your children in that case. So I urge you to think carefully. Some of the members here including myself do have rabbits for adoptions occasionally. So you may want to wait a while to see if anyone comes in and offer their rabbits for adoption. When budget is the constraint, you may opt to adopt. QUOTE(eelaine @ Jul 2 2008, 05:03 PM) i heard that rabbits die fast. my daughter is only 5 years old, and i have another 1 years old, should i wait a little later, coz the rabbits so expensive, if lets say i buy today, in a week the rabbit die, really chia lat. Hi MalaPetaKa,I believe that is a FUZZY LOP. Holland Lop have shorter fur. Very nice color and cute little fellow. In the current photos Marquiz seemed to look like a Lionhead Lop. QUOTE(MaLaPeTaKa @ Jul 2 2008, 05:07 PM) ok...tanx anyway to welcome me here.... Oh no, please avoid there. I have seen many rabbits with MANGE there. And this problem lingers in the shop for a very long time. Each batch of rabbit also I observe having the same problem if they are kept there longer. So it means that there are a lot of mites in that little small area. And their rabbits are way too young for selling age. They normally take in smaller than suppose babies to prolong the shelf life. Stop buying underage rabbits. RABBITS SHOULD ONLY BE SOLD AFTER 8 WEEKS. 4 weeks is suicidal!
You just need to read up more how a healthy baby rabbit should look and behave then you go choose. Any signs of fur loss should be avoided. red skin, wet vent area, eye discharge ETC should also be avoided. Yeah normally poo is something human perceive as dirty and bad. Bunny owners must always be happy to see poo and pee with their rabbits. That means they are healthy!
QUOTE(11Jan @ Jul 4 2008, 02:48 PM) sorry to hear that vincent for rabbits, they always always have to eat and poo and pee! very important to keep the gut moving.. the minute they stop eating or pooing, we have to step in. if they stop eating for 12 hours, that is critical already.. we just need to keep this in mind |

Let it settle down for a while first like 3 days to get used to his new environment. Dun play too much if it is too young if not you will stress it out.
1 month plus means only around 6 weeks. I tot I did mention earlier that you should only get rabbits above 8 weeks? Nvm...what's done is done... QUOTE(eelaine @ Jul 4 2008, 03:36 PM) hi all, sorry for side tracking on Beh's gathering, i just bought a baby rabbit.. not really baby lar... about 1 month plus..... can i take it out from the cage and play with it to get acquainted with him or... i should leave him in the cage for 1 week... basically what is the best thing i should do? Bebee,Don't think I can join this time. Very far for me and I expecting some babies this weekend so must stay home in case any emergencies. |

Thanks Kenji!QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jul 5 2008, 10:11 PM) Hey, why so many hands needed to hold a small ND? Abuse ke? Look like one gang of people trying to wollap the rabbit. LOL!!!!!I don't think you need to endure the scratches just let them pose naturally. I believe all the imported rabbits especially show rabbits are handled very often and they will pose on their own. Really nice photos. Nice background too. QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jul 5 2008, 10:12 PM) This post has been edited by sangterap: Jul 6 2008, 11:53 AM |

need more handling la... They will get used to it..... QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jul 6 2008, 11:56 AM) Pose naturally? Of course we let it pose naturally....... the scratches all came when we carried them/they tried to jump off the table! The many hands -- 1 to pick up and put on the table/hold down, 1 to groom, 1 to hold the cloth backdrop smooth when the bunny is running around/walking around and scrunching the cloth up/biting the cloth. Seriously extremely uncooperative models except for the ex-show bunnies |

You definitely should groom Navi to be a show bunny in case we are able to start off a show here in Malaysia. I believe if he has got all the traits of a grand champion, he should conform to the breed standards.
Anyhow, IMHO, not all grand champions produces grand champions but that increase the chances of getting champ offsprings. That's one thing great about breeding show rabbits because we cannot be certain of how Mother Nature allocates the genes at the end of the day. QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jul 6 2008, 01:51 PM) But not all are used to handling and we had to get them to pose some way or another On another note... I'm thinking of attempting to groom Baby Navi into a proper show rabbit... it is after all show quality and its father is a grand champion. Show bunny should be show-trained. Then can pose nicely and show off |

Bear in mind, that's introducing neutered/spayed rabbits.
9 out of 10 introduction that I have seen end up in fights for un-neutered/un-spayed rabbits. Whether it is a same gender or different gender. Well, on a personal note, quite disappointing to read about the fights. Everyone should be informed of such situations and due research has got to be done. QUOTE(lm_meileng @ Jul 7 2008, 11:56 AM) hi, i would recommend u to read 11Jan website on how she introduce her new bunny (named Yohji) to her existing bunny (named buttons)...... http://furrybutts.wordpress.com |

And unplanned pregnancies too! Great job!
QUOTE(lm_meileng @ Jul 7 2008, 01:09 PM) for my case, i think i am quite lucky cos i introduce my doe (june) to my buck (coco) at their very young age.......at about two months, they did not fight, i think not because of they r opposite sex, i think because they r still immature their hormon hv yet to kick in.....however, my coco demand a lot of grooming during the introduction stage.....further, i found out that lop ear breed (coco) temperament is quite good and somehow, more tame. nevertheless, i still separate them in a different cage when they grow mature to avoid unnecessary fight. |
