Like sangterap said before, we shud acknowlegde the petshops about the Oxbow's existing. Let the Oxbow fever spread the whole Malaysia! Later Beh will come with his Show Feed Rabbit. Let's spread it's fever. (Wah, sounds like Euro 2008 fever!) biggrin.gif

But before that, i want to share my experience with some of the petshop when i told them about Oxbow products. "Lu jangan cakap pasal nutrient la, labbits requirement la, itu la ini la... Ini product mahal maaa... Kita bisnes, kita tengok mahal ka murah. Kita ambil barang murah, boleh jual murah maaaa.. barang murah lagi manyak orang beli. Boleh makan juga maaa.. Lu kasi lu punya labbit makan mahal ka, murah ka, lu punya labbit pun makan jugak maaa... kenyang jugak maaa... Lu tengok kita punya labbit sana.. Wa bagi makan murah, pellet sekilo RM2 pun labbit makan jugak. Buat apa lu buang duit?"

What the "tooooooot'!!! I felt like want to punch his face until his head turns 360 degrees!! :vmad:

Chin, let's bring the parang and shovel to that petshop!!! I think we shud keep Sangterap alive at this moment to spread the Oxbow n Show Feed Rabbit fever first.. hehehe... tongue.gif

Nico & All,

Actually I have been thinking about how the shop keeper told you about RM2 sekilo rabbit pellets. After the entire day thinking about it, I realized that I actually need to tell everyone this.

Yes, many cheap rabbit pellets out there. And most petshops only emphasize on profit. But just let me tell u guys what I think okie...

When I keep my first rabbit, the main problem that I encounter was the smell. Many people give up their rabbits when they get too stinko. After using Oxbow, I realized that my rabbit do not smell that bad. Of course urine have smell but somehow, the smell is not that strong.

That being said, most pet shop people do not know this and their RM2 sekilo rabbit pellets is those that causes really bad smell. And when people start to give up their rabbits because of the smell, I do not think their RM2 sekilo will be as LAKU.

Likewise if the RM2 sekilo rabbit pellets causes health problems, soon no rabbits will need those pellets because they will all be DEAD!

So, if you encounter snobbish shop keepers like what Nico had mentioned, just tell them to PANDANG JAUH sikit....with good pellets we will have healthy and smell good rabbits. With that, people will come back for more!

So now, RM2 sekilo better or longer business better?
*
nod.gif nod.gif nod.gif AGREE!!

Plus more, i found that they consume less (the Oxbow pellet) compare to the cheap pellet even the Oxbow looks smaller in size. They eat the cheap pellet like never kenyang... Means, with Oxbow, i dun have to buy pellet as much as before (8kg a month!).

Now i'm still giving them pellet 1:3 (1 Oxbow : 3 old pellet). And i can see they start to ignore the old brand pellet. And they can accept the new Oxbow hay i provide them. I'm feeding them the Oxbow Botanical Hay and Orchard Grass, plus unlimited Alfalfa n Timothy hay i aredi bought for them (the ther brand, later will change to Oxbow).

I hope the other rabbits owner will realize their rabbit's needed (good quality diet) and help to stop the sell of pellet2 yang tak guna tu.

Daddy's Diary :

8th May 2008 - a lump was detected at Daddy's shoulder bone. Almost a size of marble ball.
Attached Image

9th May 2008 - lump removal. The lump was filled with thick pus. So the vey had to flush them out.
Attached Image

17th May 2008 - Took Daddy to the vet again. The vet try to make a hole at the lump, but the skin became thick aredi and the needle couldnt go thru, so the vet ask me to pat him with hot bottle and apply an antibiotic gel.
Attached Image

20th May 2008 - The lump became smaller. And the fur start to grow and cover the scar.
Attached Image

But at the same day, i found a second lump at Daddy's right leg. I think, he got this lump after had a cut while struggling hard when the vet flushed the first lump. Bcoz the 2nd lump is about 1" far from the first lump. So i took him for pus removal also.
Attached Image

THIS MORNING - The first lump only a size of a rice. Hope it will gone away soon. But the second lump is getting bigger. Almost double than the size when i detected it. So will take him to the vet again this evening. Pity him la... Today will be the 4th time Daddy being cucuk by the vet to make a hole to flush the pus. It is a painful procedure. And everytime the vet has to do this procedure, it needs 4 persons to hold him steady. Kesian him la... Hope he will remain strong and will recover soon. Please pray for him.

Why u simply let your dogs roam outside the house? If that is the case then I think you should never let ur dog go out anymore.
*
That dog is not mine. She is a stray dog. Around 1 year ++ ago, I saved her after she had been shot by council people. She was a puppy, wounded and helpless. I brought her to the vet to remove the bullet. A week later, i called the SPCA, but they refused to take her because she is crippled (after being shot). First, they asked me to call the council to shot her again. I refused. So the SPCA asked me to dewormed, deflead, vaccin and spaying her. And they told me i can bring her to SPCA but i have to spend money for her expenses - medical, food, etc. All expenses on me. Then, they said after 3 months if there's no adopter, she'll be put to sleep. I cant afford that expenses since i also have other commitments.

I have no choice. So i take a lisence for her to avoid her being shot. And she stays at our apartment compound. But the indian kids always provoke her by throwing stones to her. They make her angry, that why ske keeps chasing indian kids (i never see she chasing any chinese or malay kids).

Now i heard she bite an indian boy. I'm DOOMED~

No wori, i never bring my rabbits downstair (our apartment compound). I only bring my rabbits to jogging park. No cats, dogs or other predators...

Oi SANGTERAP, u call it 'enjoyment'? It is not an enjoyment at all.. it's a POISON!! Make me dying la see all those cute pics of Little Hope... So clever la u offer Little Hope to JTL... Cuba offer sama Chin, Maghul, Bebee or me la kalau berani. Kita kidnap dan tak nak pulangkan balik. We will make u begging to death. Ha ha ha.....

MEILENG, i dunno how ur vet make a cut to the lump. But in Daddy's case, the vet make a small hole using the biggest needle he has in his clinic (around 2mm diameter). Then the vet will press the lump until his hand also shaking (he press too hard, i think). That's why he needs another 3 person to hold Daddy. Daddy will struggle during this process. In a few hours, the hole will dried up. So, is that means, if want to flush out the pus, i have to make the hole at the same spot again?

Daddy tried to clean the lump part this morning, and he accidently peeled off the scab (dried wound). So i was able to press that lump a bit and wipe out the pus. But i dont dare to press harder.

Daddy can be very quiet when i pat his head. So i can take a close look/ touch/ press with warm bottle at the lump when patting him. BUT I DONT DARE TO PRESS IT HARDER LAAAAA... Tak sampai hati pulak...!!!! cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif Kenapa i ni penakut sangat aaaaaaaa? Waaaaa cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif icon_question.gif

Look at how blur was he, haha...

When I let him play on the grass actually I was a bit worried he might just run off.. hard to catch him back.. But instead he run about then turn back to me and sit next to my leg.. Even jump on my lap and sort of ask me to carry him. haha, that's the fun thing of having a pet.. Piggy is a good rabbit.

i was looking for the same NIC also.. but last month, i saw them in Carrefour Seberang Perai. It was located at the furniture department, together with other metal/heavy duty rack. It has been assembled. Later i check again and take photo using my handphone k.

Good on you for bringing up your rabbits so well  rclxms.gif

There must be a misunderstanding somewhere. We 'good quality food advocates' have never ever said that alfalfa hay could save a rabbit's life. Although it would make our lives a lot easier if we could just chuck a bunch of alfalfa hay at sick rabbits and expect them to magically spring back to life in the very next instant.

The problem, as most of us here are aware, is that the majority of people do not bother to do some research on an animal before buying it. they can come to the forum and post, but they are somehow incapable of going to google.com to learn a little bit more. and so, they go out and purchase tiny little rabbits, cos they are just so freaking cute! nevermind the fact that they are too young to be sold, they have been deprived of the mother's milk and without the essential nutrients from their mother's milk, their digestive system is under-developed. With the stress of leaving their family, moving to a new environment, adapting to different types of food... its no surprise that the digestive system gets compromised resulting in fatal diarrhea.

What we 'good quality food advocates' are trying to achieve here is to encourage owners to provide their rabbits with a diet as close to their natural diet as possible, so that its easier on their digestive system and hopefully their baby bunnies will survive til adulthood. (BTW, hay is dried grass. the varieties may differ, but its still 'grass'. so although your rabbits may not have tasted hay in their entire life, they did in fact enjoy the benefits of high-fibre food in its most natural form).

As for good quality food... well end of the day it boils down to the quality of life which an owner wants to give its rabbit. since it seems such a hard concept to grasp, lets try to see it this way: would you feed your child fast food throughout his entire life? sure he wont die, but is it healthy? and if you could afford it, wouldn't you want to give him a better diet?

and i don't think it really costs that much to give good quality food. I use Oxbow pellets (not saying that Oxbow is THE brand, but in Msia, it has the best nutritional content so far), 4 types of hay, tons of vegetables... which comes up to RM180/mth for 2 rabbits. big amount?? not really.. divide that by 30 days and i only get RM3/day/rabbit ... is that too much to ask for? if it is then seriously, i think some people should reconsider keeping rabbits, because if the rabbit gets sick, the vet bill is gonna cost way more!

and for the record, i do not and have never considered it a burden to give good food to my rabbits
*
nod.gif nod.gif nod.gif
I also spend RM180/4 rabbits, not including fresh veges and fruits. But i still look forward to provide them better and good nutritient food.

i've read before that generally most grass are safe, but you'd better do more research on that  tongue.gif if you have a garden, you can also plant herbs for your rabbits or you can grow wheatgrass in small pots.

Carrefour penang sell it, but as a multipurpose rack, not a DIY cage.

Yeah, i will do more researh on plants and herbs.. Next year i'll having my own house, and it will be a corner unit with a lot of space for rabbit n garden... tongue.gif
