no doubt the interface is nicer, the organizing function is much stronger but the downside is, its slow when moving through menus.

my impressions:

when first firing up the application, it takes like 1 to 2 seconds to move between the screen of "artists", "album", "tracks" etc under My Music
but after using it for a minute or so...everything going smoothly

i never used W950/W960 before, and i must say this walkman app organizing function is amazing. there's a little search bar inside My Music where you can instantly search the songs that you want, no more scrolling up and down looking for songs miserably especially when you got hundreds of songs.

The animation on going in the background is nice to have too (although i assume that the animation is the primary reason of slowing down).

and there's one thing, if you look closely, there's no play/pause button on screen, because W series has dedicated play/pause hard key, and hence, i spent 15minutes to figure out it is actually non-existence. You need to use they keyboard keys to play/pause them.

p/s : W960 is having walkman 3.0, at which the menu is also animated, and there's this senseME function that's supposingly sense your mood

actually the keyboard confused me a lot.
almost every single key function as play/pause.
so i don see that as a problem

it doesn't affect your default skin.
the nice orange theme is only the default interface of the Walkman 2.0 software, once you end the application you will go back to your phone's default skin

yeah, you'll be having two media player inside the phone as it will not overwrite the default one.

i actually wished the walkman 2.0 is able to work as a radio player since i seldom listen to mp3 on the phone but more of radio. too bad it didn't work.

Update :
There's actually 5 animation mode you can switch around (and you can turn them off too), and another 5 "mood" color you can choose from i have no idea what the "mood" settings do besides different color make the animation animate in different speed (i'm not sure do the mooooooood setting affect the way the phone shuffles music files).

the rocker key no longer act as a volume controller like in P1i default media player, but instead it turn into a little file browser, which in turn.... a lil hassle to adjust volume.

good thing is this thing has a small memory foot print. it only used up about 161k of memory, while the default music player eat up about 100k of memory.

i know those who has used walkman phone previously knows most of these thing and find nothing to be excited about. forgive me as this is the first time i'm using walkman software on a phone. but hey, its a walkman on p1i

oh ya, i VPN to tunnel out of Malaysia then only can download. apparently these download host doesn't like Malaysian, just like megaupload

AppTRK is only a small apps to install inside the phone

you still need the phython installation files and phython script files.

be patient, i shall upload they all onto the glorious LYN server...but it is 15MB in size, might take a while

no doubt P1i require some above average technical skill to operate sometime.
but no, never a moment thought it is a bad investment.
