Where's your location?

Just incase some of you can't get beach sand, you may use crushed corals as well. Ask for the smallest grade, if not mistaken is 3. hermits love to burrow inside it. Reusable and cheap compared to beach sand.

For calcium can use cuttle bone. Pets shops selling birds might have them. Or you may be lucky to find some on the beach as well.

Forgot so many terms.. Haha, long time never keep crabs already.

bee002: The small one you have behind the straws is an Ecuadorian or a Rugg?

I wanted too...but look like have to prepare many things before keeping crabs...somemore if i only keep 1 or 2 crabs, it don't look nice... but if i keep more that means i have to spend quite a amount of $$

Haha, hermit crabs doesn't require too many items. But last time did bought heater, drift wood, lighting, terra vines that sum up to more than 300 for setup. End up need to study somewhere else, terpaksa send all for adoption. zzz.

Hermit crabs don't really do well alone, they are socialize creatures, keep 2 - 3 will be good. But maintenance is cheap and easy.

Bee002: Can't see your crabs clearly, but someone mentioned so just asking lo.

1 utama might have. The only petshop at the car park region.
Pets Mart 88 might have also, but last time saw all old stocks.
I'm not sure now, but last time Selayang Mall and Mutiara Complex carries alot. Especially Mutiara Complex, they have a cachement containing sacks of shells of different kinds.

Thanks zoejehuty. I can't, cause I'm stuck at hostel in Johor. The setup was taken apart already, aquarium, humidifier and lighting given to people to rear fishes.

Still got some shells, some crushed corals, and other decor.. Keeping is relatively easy, my siblings can help me feed them, but the person that occupies my room can't tolerate the sound of them knocking their shells against the glass during the night.

You guys can make one something similar too if you all have the time. Is quite easy and cheap if you have an aquarium set along with small filter and lighting. Just need to buy some artificial plants.

oh, so that's your reason why don't want to keep hermit crab.
what is the use for humidifier? lighting just depends whether need or not, based on where is the tank located right?
