Lighting just to make the tank nicer to see when you turned it on. The humidifier acts like misting spray to keep the air not too dry. <But this is just optional, can do it manually.

We tend to mist or spray our crabitat like once a day with salt water as hermit crabs breath thru their modified gills which requires damp air.

FYI, strawberry hermit crabs are being sold at Toby's. If not mistaken there are about 30-40 crabs. Price-wise, rm30 I have been told by staff.

Irene Aquarium has some selling too...theirs is priced at rm 15 each, same size as those sold at Toby's

Erm.hi there..may i know where i could get them but of the size which costs RM 5 which was previously sold in 1 Utama but no longer there.i came to hear that a shop named pets family in SS24 sells them,unfortunately i am not based in KL so i need someone to answer my queries.please.thank you.i am desperately to get them.

Added on November 22, 2008, 11:42 pmYes they sell hermit crabs. Strawberry Hermit Crab. Medium to large @ RM18. They have restocked and shifted to a better place for the crabs. It is now located beside the fish food section.

Forgetful me forgot to share a damn funny joke about my crabs.

It all started when i have this obsession on hermit crabs and my girlfriend realized that too. Upon my first purchase of hermit crabs in 1U and accompanied by her.

Forgotten what is that call, my girlfriend just blah out "Dear, your helmet crab looks super cute with their shell on it"

I go like.. what?!! helmet crab?? It is call hermit crab

See, they are wearing a shell on the head, its a helmet. She responded.

Since then, my girlfriend called my crabs helmet crabs instead hermit.

Went to Pet Safari and saw the hermit crabs, its uber huge. Ranging from large to jumbo Price is fixed @ RM30 ea.

The pre-sales caring looks ok despite the overuse on the heat lamp and a dung bettle? in the tank with the crabs.

If anyone is interested in large hermit crabs, head over there for some purchase. As calculated, there is 12 in that 60g tank.

Looks good but camera shy

Got myself a black ruggie and named it Blackpepper due to its dark exo color.

It was too active and escaped from the ISO tank. Seeing its capability on adapting the tank environment, i put it in and was welcomed by a short wrestling match. Currently away from home so hope they can have a truce between them.

want to purchase a couple of strawberry 'helmet' crab...

currently got 4 purple pincher...

anybody know where to find shell for them ?...

what type of shell they like ?...

Ok, for strawberry crabs shells, you need to come to pet family @ SS24. Last check was 2 hours ago and they have shells for sale @ RM7 each.

They do have strawberry crabs too but very limited now. Another place for it is Pet Safari, they do sell it but those were large and jumbo while the former place is medium only.

IMHO jumbo crabs take better to keeping in captivity than do smaller ones. But remember strawberry crabs do need a higher amount of saltwater drink compared to the other species of hermit crabs. Normally it is recommended to have two water dishes, one for fresh water and the other saltwater.

Majority medium to jumbo hermit crabs require large amount of water be it fresh or salt. Food portion wise, Strawberry crab is a huge eater.
