Im not really sure wht common models most ppl use, im using a Holux M-1000 unit (used with Nokia Maps) which i got from a LYN gps-r seller for RM250 abt 4-5 months back. Last i checked, prices range were around 180 - 500 for gps-r's depending on brand and type. Only diff i can see is the lock on time, ability to stay locked on and accuracy. hmm.gif

I think that any external gps-r that has bluetooth spp profile can be used with the S60's. I used the same unit trouble free with my old phone, N73ME (s60 3rd).

don think it's possible, this is because housing is not covered as part of the warranty....they can just say that u are the one responsible for this issue...anyway, do try to talk to the shop for waranty, and make up reasons why they should replace it for u

I havent used the adapt yet, but technically speaking the major diff to me are:

H-1000
- MTK MT3318 GPS Chip, taiwan chip, so far no compalins
- Uses Nokia BL-5C battery.
- No wall charger, uses USB cable (like used on digital cameras) or Car adapter with USB (provided) to charge.
- Boxy design, looks old school.
- 17hrs of use.

Marathon 55
- Sirf star III GPS chip, a well known chip used in many phones, including nokia.
- AA sized Li-MH 2400mh batteries.
- Wall charger included as well as car charger.
- Sleeker design
- 55hrs of use.

In my opinion, if plan to heavily use the GPS daily, go for the Adapt cos they have longer endurance otherwise the Holux is adequate.

Hope this helps icon_rolleyes.gif

The chanels, from wht i understand, is the number of satellites it can search then track. 1 chanel per sat. Though in reality, the map software only need a minimum of 3 to get a lock. Nokia maps uses 5 when available but can work with only 2 at the cost of accuracy.

However, more channels are preferable but not nessesary. I've heard though (not confirmed) that some ppl say more channels means faster lock. hmm.gif

H or M 1000? lols

There is another M1000b if i am not mistaken which is a better version, i feel like buying one to use with GarminMobileXT the ahem version cause the free version can only pair up with the Garmin 10X , and that GPS cost RM380 and review has proven that Garmin 10X is better, however i don have enough budget for that, I am still looking for second hand one though.

Nokia Maps Failed to deliver what I need as the map is not detail enough for me >.<
