hi,

I've graduated in year 2006. Didnt pay my ptptn loan until Dec 07. Started paying in January 2008 until now

every month. In 2008, i pay 200-300 every month, then for this year 2009, i increased my payment to RM 500 every month to avoid the high interest charges.

"KOS PENTADBIRAN TERKUMPUL TAHUN SEMASA SETAKAT OKTOBER 2009 : 458.38 "

Up til now, my salary is only RM 1.8k,after epf n socso is RM 1681, deduct RM 500 every mth for ptptn, deduct petrol RM 280 per/mth, food & other expenses RM 300, RM 200 for parents.......luckily im still staying with family otherwise, if need to pay rental....habis lah!

Currently, still need to pay 13k, so estimated in 2 yrs plus can pay off all....

since the interest is so low, only 3%,
y dun pay lesser , and use the extra money to do investment ?
u may use the money to invest something which can get more return than ptptn interest.

My friend got a reply from PTPTN on the 1% thingy and forwarded the email to me. I hope this will help PTPTN loaner folks here.

Tuan/puan,

a.      Peminjam sedia ada yang sedang belajar.,

i.                    Pelajar-pelajar yang diluluskan pinjaman pendidikan PTPTN secara online mulai Jun 2008 sehingga 21 Disember 2008;

ii.

i.                    Membuat semakan melalui laman web PTPTN serta membaca maklumat dan tindakan yang perlu diambil oleh mereka;

ii.                  Pelajar-pelajar yang ditawarkan hendaklah memasuki laman web e-pinjaman dan login menggunakan kata laluan yang digunakan semasa permohonan online dibuat dahulu;

iii.

I contacted with ptptn before, those who paid regularly as per their schedule or do not have any outstanding overdue debts only entitled with 1% interest charged.

On the other hand, your present statement must tally with your original payment schedule. But still you need to wait for ptptn to update their database batch by batch, so meanwhile, you still need to pay accordingly with 3% interest charge.

hmm, i dun think if you pay lump sum u will get discount or rebates....but u will definitely save alot on the admin charges....imagine every mth the amount that you have to pay....by paying lump sum, you save on the interest charges...if you can pay all in one lump sum, might as well go ahead, but of coz make sure u have enuff emergency funds la....

As other said, you dun have rebate/discount.

If you able to clear all loan within the 6 months after graduation, u will be excluded all the admin charges/interest.

0% interest loan, not bad eh?

I don't mind if they extend 1% interest to only those who pay according to schedule.

The problem is, they provide no easy means for us to check whether the amount we paid so far is tallied with schedule. Such info should be put on the online statement website.

Hi. I have just started working and my pay is little.

I have repaid PTPTN on the previous month but I paid on RM100 monthly. sweat.gif

There are only 3 months left before the end of the year and I decided to pay RM300 in 1 shot for 3 of these month.

I will be dead broke but will be able to survive the month.

Or should I pay RM100 for each month so that I can better manage my money. Thanks. notworthy.gif

its better for you to pay rm100 each for the last 3 months of the year rather than rm300 in 1 shot if u're financially constraint..
ur interest will not go down so much if u pay rm300..

I have talked to some old man regarding this matter.

They advised not to pay in one lump sum. Some of your money can be invested in some place. By earning the interest, you could then pay back to PTPTN.

What will you do if you suddenly need that lump sum of money in case of emergency?

well.. i have paid off one lump sum.

My point is: if you are clear now, then you will psychologically feel better, as investment not always earn money; it lose sometimes.

So clear it, then invest. FD rate is so low now, no use keep at bank..

Wu Ming,

I cant put my money in FD coz interest is so low....ive got 2k in maybank FD and interest only 2.1% compared to the interest of ptptn's 3%
For investment purpose, there are so many types of investment funds out there, dun even know which is good and this could take me months or even a few years to know which investment suits me...(to do research and stuff).
Which mutual funds/shares/stock do you invest in Wu Ming?

Epalbee,

I totally agree with u....paying off in one lump sum will make u psychologically feel better....and FD rates...oh my..such low interest.....epalbee, congrats to u on paying off ur ptptn loan! I want to feel tat weight lifted off my shoulders too....
