There is no shortcut. You need to provide at least 2x POI and your N82 GPS ID to malsingmap admin to get the unlock keys. You can start from here:

Then, the malsingmap admin will give you the download link and the unlock keys.

Run the downloaded .exe and enter the 2x unlock keys.

Copy the generated gmapsupp.img into N82 <MemoryCard>\Garmin\

*** Remember to download the GMXT mapsingmap version

You don't need a GPS if you know the location. Use MapSource in your PC (refer links in malsingmap)

Else, if you insist to use N82 GPS, use the older June 2007 map version. It's free (refer pg 1 in this thread)

Search for an S60v3 app called eqrestart

Yes, I have just helped my friend install in N95 8GB last week as per pg 1 dzi921 instruction. It is the same set I used to install in my N82.

Yes, sometimes it will hang, an you need to Alt+Tab, "task manager"->kill it... or just switch it off. So far, it doesn't require me to take out battery.

Previous N80 and 6230 = I have encounter hang and need to take out battery.

Regarding malsingmap, I do encounter the problem as you say. Sometimes it doesn't ask me to turn left (on a straight road) but the road is curve 90� angle.

Also, somewhere at LDP PJ Tmn Megah interchange, it ask me to go up the ramp ?? and some wrong instruction. I'm from SS2 going to Crab King.

Added on March 4, 2008, 4:52 pmYes, agree. Must use own common sense. Since the accuracy is ~30m, I was at the back-alley road but the N82 GPS + s/w still say I'm in front of the shophouse.

Cannot compare and it is somehow acceptable to me... as an all-in-1-device.

V 11.0.117 = Firmware version. All language share the same version (generally)
10-12-07 = Firmware release date.
RM-313 = Firmware code for N82
Nokia N82 (12.01) = Your region, i.e. determine which language pack NSU will auto-update.

You can manual set the region code to others using NSS, but a bit risky if you are unsure what you are doing.

Note: My SG unit, version above supports B.Melayu, Chinese, EnGLand

I think this is Nokia so called security feature for all the newer N series, to prevent ppl from taking xxx photos/videos, upskirt, etc. i.e. camera shutter will always have sound, and video red light will always on.

Right now, those with S60v3 devices + non-expired cert = a valuable combination now until the day they open up symbiansigned or some other solution, then it's worthless

Share with you all my N82 + crystal casing + DT-22 stand (rotated to capture this picture)

Goto Menu -> Tools -> Connectivity -> GPS Data -> Options -> Positioning Settings
Only enable/tick "Integrated GPS"

This will disable A-GPS which utilise GPRS/EDGE/3G data line.

Without A-GPS, it will still work, but
1) take longer time to lock the satellite
2) requires more effort to lock (outdoor instead of under a tree)
3) less accurate... down from 10-15m to 20-30m

I'm assuming you are saying Nokia Maps through WiFi.
Nokia Maps is free.
Nokia Maps Voice-Navigation is NOT free.

1) You have unlimited data plan.
2) Your celcom broadband simcard works in h/p. I have tried maxis broadband (USB) sim card and it doesn't work.

No alamak... if you are true blue N82 fan, you will read through all of it.

You can download the maps using PC and copied over to N82 as USB drive.

My opinion: A 2-4GB card, you will store a lot of things there. Pictures, songs/sounds, movies, files, apps, etc. Unless you transfer all files into PC.

If you are traveling for several days, you won't have enough to store pictures and videos. Therefore, it is better to buy the largest available compatible memory card (8GB) if you can afford it.

I'm planning to buy 8GB micro-SD in PC Fair during 11 Apr weekend. So far shortlisted SanDisk.

I'm interested about the mirror sticker also. Anyone knows ? anywhere ? price ?

Well, it costs around rm180, not sure on the class, forgot. If there is better spec, I'll get it too class 6 what brand ? SanDisk too ? How much ?

If got 16GB micro-SD at reasonable price in PC Fair, then I might get it too. But I think not yet launch to mass market. If given a choice now, I prefer a slower class 16GB, rather than a faster 8GB. Big size wins for me!

Depends on usage. e.g. capture one parade/show video easily 15-20min, which is ~0.5-1GB. Several shows... how much already ? Then capture pictures (ok ok, can use normal digital camera here). I tried capture video with my digital camera at highest res, 5min = 600mb avi file.
It's more disk-space-economical with N82 .mp4 although at a lower res compared to my digicam. Better if can afford a videocam, but not in my plan right now.

True also, bigger = load slower if put a lot of rubbish inside. Your budget is more than enough for 8GB micro-SD. I think PC Fair will sell around RM155-165, hopefully.

If you want all-in-one device, and you don't mix-and-match with other external device, go for Samsung/LG/etc.

If you plug to PC, use the h/p as modem, wants stability for work purpose (although the phone will still hang as other Nokia phones), less headache with external devices compatibility/drivers, backup & restore, sync contacts for future,... go for Nokia N Series.

I have always been Nokia fan, as I used it heavily more on "work" purpose. Never fail me before. Although I always envy the Korean designs/fashion compared to brick-block-nokia.

My friend experience with Nokia, then change to Motorola, then borrow Samsung, then Nokia, motorola... now back to N95 His experience ? He says for "work" purpose, Nokia is king, less problem, never submit to service centre before, but current N95 battery life sucks. Can last 0.5-1 day only.

With WiFi, you will see four-small boxes at upper right. If WiFi is connected, the 4-boxes will be connected with an X.

If you see 3G on upper left, means you are on data-line/WAP. Check to confirm you are not utilising the data-line, else your bill will be very high.

Also, ensure when you connect, you choose the correct Web/Access Point. Double check the settings for the Bookmark.
