I think the dividend payout this financial year is lower because of Bjtoto acquisition of HR Owen. Hopefully, the dividend payout will move back to 29-30 cents assuming no more large investments are made.

i think toto dividend will be consistent. this is a cash cow company for the group, their past dividends are also very good. accumulating it at about 3.7x is a good move, but i'm not buying it yet. just yet. but sooner or later I will want to accumulate it for passive income portfolio. if the price is right.

I'd rather invest in REITs than Toto

Rationale:
REITs can increase rent, though expenses also can increase. But hey, WHICH BUSINESSES are not exposed to inflation risks? But at least REITs can TRY to increase rent>increased expenses

But, how do number forecast operators increase their revenue? Lowering price payout could be one way...but young (esp educated ones) ppl will soon realise, it's a BIG sucker bet...I might as well save up the $$$ that I'd otherwise splash at 4D shops for a few months, then one shot taruh at Genting casino. whistling.gif

yes you're right in terms of inflation and all.

But there are risks associated in REITs too, since you're taking REITs as example. REITs are not immune to market crash, should the market crash (I hope not, of course), but i'm just saying, if market crash, the REITs wouldn't do good too, the portfolio might go down, but i'm not sure about rental.

Whereas, whether market crash or not, people still buy into a few bucks of betting, there won't be a reason those frequent buyers will stop. I concur on the educated youngsters point. Toto could lower down their payout, increase the number of outlets, have more special draws to attract more ticket buyers to increase margin.
To me, Toto is already a matured business and it's kinda saturated already, thats why the lack of luster price movement and dividends, but this is cash business, with their business model, this is definitely sustainable in the next 10 years.

However, the same can't be said to REITs, I see more risks in reits than gaming business tbh. But REITs still have plenty of room to grow.

So it's all down to yourself, which is more suitable and to your liking and taste. sekian. icon_rolleyes.gif

Like your points.

Market downturn, ppl would actually buy MORE 4D! biggrin.gif

Down to your own preference actually...Toto and Magnum, matured/saturated industry, not much room to grow already. But it's all CASH. Yield is healthy too...I'd keep reinvesting the dividends to grow the holding (if I were to buy Toto and/or Magnum shares). nod.gif

7.6

Initially bought as a trading position...then I slowly study, it's a good dividend stock too...so I'm keeping

U know me, I evaluate buy/sell decision mainly on dividend yield. Ask yourself, what % yield u want?

I bought some Padini at RM 1.9 this morning for my dividend portfolio. The current yield is 5.79% and 5 year dividend growth is 36.8%

For Bjtoto I will wait for a better entry point. As for REITs, anyone here have a recommendation?

Hmm... not much affected, if there is really a market for high end milo, they can still import the "improve formula" like SG milo from australia.

I bought Padini because of the recent dip in price as well as the high dividend (6%). I think once Padini regain its Shariah status, the price should be around RM2. However, i don't think we can consider Padini as a growth stock anymore cause there are now more competition in the industry
