if your 1 lot = 1000 shares then dividend is RM1000 with capital of RM3000
Get back 1/3 of your investment..  shocking.gif
*
I think the 1 lot here refers to 100 only, so 1000 units will be RM30,000.
The dividend is RM1000 so dividend yield will be 3.33%
33% dividend payout is very unlikely, unless it's capital repayment

What's the difference between high dividen stocks n growth stocks?  icon_question.gif  If there is a difference, which is better?
*
Usually... but not definitely, high dividend stock are mature stock which had reach certain level of saturation and thus is not able to growth exponentially (in business and stock price) due to its service or product has already been widely know and people are already using it. They have difficulty in selling more of their products/services because those that don't buy or use their service is either loyal to competitor or isn't in their target group.

On the other hand growth stock is those new to the market and having an estimated growth of 10% or more annually, their stock price can usually pick up very fast but as they are still new, their earnings are usually used for capex instead of giving out as dividend.

Hope that's help...

for newbie like me

high dividend : dividend that can beat epf/asb...not necessary matured or expensive stocks...some cheap stocks also give good dividend

growth : usually new/cheap stock and has potential to grow
*

Hi All Taiko's and Guru's,

Can you all suggest some stocks with a decently good dividend pay out (around 7 ~ 10% p.a.) that is lower than RM1 per stock.

I would want to know where can I find information regarding companies specifically their cash flows info.

Any companies to introduce for me to start off with.
Not necessary investing in them.
More like doing research on those companies.

Thank you very muchh!!
*
Wah... 7~ 10% dividend payout but price at RM1 ... don't think there is any currently. SCC stock may fit your criteria last year but the price have gone up since.

All details information can be found from Bursa... or if you want only summary, can try i3investor.
You can look up any companies you like, no need recommendation. Just pick a company you heard, see before and wanted to know more about it. For example (just saying, not real)... you shopping and see Padini got crowds during sales, then go learn more about it. Or you go holiday, take airasia, noticed the flight not full and maybe it's not doing as good. Or Digi starts selling S5 ahead of others... then do research on it. Anything that you are interested in then start from there to dig out more info about the company thumbup.gif

I just checked out their cash in hand = > RM 7 per share

Not a problem paying > 6% dividend yield this year
*
Just curious ya, how come if cash at hand is at more than RM7 per share then paying 6% dividend isn't a problem? Just my 2 cents, in order to calculate if a dividend payout is sustainable, usually check it with the earning per share and compared the dividend payout, if it is more than that, than the dividend is pay from their cash reserved

Difference not so big lar  tongue.gif

Salary 1250 (This year EPS)
Use 1400 (Assume 6% dividend yield this year) RM22 x 6%
Savings 7900 (Cash per share)

Can tahan quite some time leh  tongue.gif

I give another example... look at Maxis, it is also paying dividend higher than profits... it is no big deal, but if you look at the price, it never grow... compare to Digi, it has steadily grow from 4.5 to 5 throughout the same period... Yes, the dividend is attractive but overall it is poison... and if they don't cut down on the divi.. it will eat into their share price...

But nevertheless.. if you ask me if Panamy is good to invest, I will say thumbup.gif it is still quite a rock solid company..

I thought this thread is about high dividend counter.

digi now dividend yield so low.

Btw, maxis is borrowing money to pay dividend, Panamy have tons of cash to pay dividend. Maybe got chance of special dividend too  brows.gif  brows.gif
*
hmm.gif Last year panamy baru pay special dividend I doubt that they will do it again this year. But I'm no Raja Bomoh... so I may be wrong laugh.gif

Digi dividend do indeed comes down last year to only about 3.5% compare to previous years of 5 to 5.5%. Wondering will they buck it back up. FIrst interim seems promising at 0.07

Thank you for updating me doh.gif Miss to readthe most important thing... financial report doh.gif
Ya, in this case with such loss... even if they pay 100% dividend, it will only be like 8 cents.
Need to do more research to find out why the loss, else it may be a trap.
