the worst credit card should be mbf cards
they force me to pay for transaction by edward mugui travelling to sabah. ( i accidentally paid without knowing) and they argue that i notice late so they have the right to collect the money from me.
the last one is for some china spending spree. this time i caught them in time but they ask me to fax this, fax that, then they reply i still have to pay (ask me to read fine prints again... )and will be sending a bill collector to my door.
*
In the first case - how could you have paid for something without knowing it ?
Second case - What China spending spree ? Please elaborate your story further.

The last thing we want to do is to mislead our members through incomplete/incorrectly stories.

Yeah ... I'm wondering about this as well. Does anyone also know whether Paywave / PayPass / VISA Wave is also available overseas ?

I'll take the 30% credit limit increase with a pinch of salt but HSBC never offer any Free For Life cards.

I seriously have doubts on this.. so i kinda gave her a fake information on my IC and other stuff. Hope i didnt kena anything by giving fake IC.. it just feel not right as i cant find anything through uncle google

Emm .. I suspect this is call from one of those annoying telemarketers selling you all the thing that you do not need. The closest card I know have the Twin Towers design on it for all the classic, gold & platinum card. (EON Bank - MATTA card) Don't be so easily fooled by these telemarketers tactics - what you should have done is ask them to fax all the stuff over and you'll sign up if you are interested, they'll give you all sort of excuses because all they want is you to sign up over the phone.

Problem is ... they don't give up and once you get these calls, you'll get more as well. I suspect they pass around the numbers to their friends. In the US, you're protected by law if you ask telemarketers to put your name in the "No call list" and you can sue them if they do call you. Here, no protection for us the consumers - you gotta be tough to these guys if needs to be.

i i had just received a call from [Withheld] number, saying he is calling from maybank, and asked whether i use my credit card for online transaction. i said no, then he replied, they tracked there is FRAUD, and already block my credit card. asking me to collect my new credit card at Maybank branch...

omg.. i just used my credit card first month...
*
It can happen to anyone ... anytime. I too had this experience several years back but my card was cloned instead of being used online. At least Maybank has proactive measures and actually in my best knowledge RHB & UOB also practices similar approach. Whenever you perform a transaction which is out of the ordinary - be sure to receive a call from the CS within minutes.

Don't get discouraged. Just need to be careful and make sure you got a good antivirus / antispyware installed on your machine. Keyloggers / vulnerabilities on your machine may leak out sensitive information without you knowing it.

Yup most likely a scam. I get these calls all the time - modus operandi, use a Digi mobile number and claim they are calling from a company. Why can't the company reveal their phone number upfront right ? And why ask whether use credit card or not if they are already your bank ?

Sometime they'll also call and ask that they want to check your credit card number. Never ... never reveal your credit card details to suspicious calls. If they are truly your bank, they know your personal information already. Don't need to ask you so much.

Why don't you make an attempt to call the CS and activate the card? Possibly by doing so you don't need to send in the yellow card.

Even people who has been working so long can get their cc application declined for various reasons. All banks are generally consistent in not revealing why they decline a person's cc application.

Well ... you need to be earning RM80K per annum to qualify. Same as the CIMB Platinum.

Anyone received the first bill of CIMB Petronas statement? how's the rebate counting on?
*
The bank will total up all your purchases and then credits the rebates. (Petronas related spendings gets more rebates up to a certain ceiling) So, you'll end up paying slightly less than what you have spent. To compensate, there's no points accumulation unlike most credit cards loyalty programme.

QUOTE(candy_chl @ Apr 2 2008, 10:43 PM)
can anyone suggest me other credit card that can approve fast as i'm going oversea next mth and another thing is has a lot privilage (like discounts at shops or restaurant - like citibank) ?
If you intend to use it overseas then go for international banks only (No other choice about it) - HSBC, Citibank, UOB, StandardChartered. My vote goes to HSBC & Citibank (Some love this card and some hate this card, I had ups and downs with it) for easy worldwide recognition. Next would be StandardChartered and UOB would be ranked last.

Fast approval is always a marketing pitch used by the cc agents - countless times I heard this and more often than not this wouldn't be the case. In my entire history of card application, Petronas (Recent) & RHBBank (Several years back) took the longest - 1 month or more. Approval of the card is done by someone from another section of the bank - if you have a good credit record, approval can be fast.

If you ask me, it all depends on your luck. My MBB Petronas took more than 1 month to approve but my friends got it within 2-3 weeks. Discounts ? This depends on what sort of things you like - most discounts are for branded shops for normal priced items. Unless you wanna go for UOB One card but let's not go into THAT topic again. I'm tired of the senseless discussion around it.

actually the citibank CS should try call a few times before rejecting right..........as unlikely those HR ppl wil sit there wait their call.
*
Emm ... not really. These CS handle hundreds of calls and hundreds of applications on a daily basis. If they miss your call, it'll be simple to assume that you miss your chance to be verified already.

Agree with ya totally. If you don't qualify then you don't qualify - Period. Otherwise DirectAccess might as well just make "Platinum" credit card accessible for everyone. Then the prestige value simply doesn't exist anymore.

Actually, I think Ronnie was still being polite on the answer.

That's a good one ! blush.gif Finally knew that the battle was fruitless, might as well give up and end the call gracefully.

Whenever I sense a telemarketeer calling (Usually starts with the question - "Are you free to talk?"), I'll ask for the person to state the reason of the call. He/she says this and that and I'll say "I'm not going to waste anyone's time here but I'm sorry I'm not interested in any of that - Thank you". Works everytime and I can't remember anyone saying anything else but "Sorry for disturbing you - thank you and good bye" tongue.gif

why citibank so easy upgrade ppl punya credit card.. so citibank card no standard lo.. or they want to earn more annual fee..haha
*
Generally, all banks does this and they'll only upgrade those with good payment and credit history. And it's more of a strategy to attract bigger spending from the credit card holder (this is easy .... realign all your bill payments and do it online, petrol, etc) and cultivate loyalty. You are more likely to cancel your normal card and keep your Gold card right ? (Better status)

You can't benefit from both sides. If you/anyone using the CIMB/Maybank Petronas co-brand credit card, you can't claim Mesra points.

Does it work like this =  if i purchased a laptop worth RM 3000 in a merchant , and i have to call CIMB card center to ask them covert my Deb into flexi i plan.?  smile.gif
Yes

So i will have to pay around RM150 ++ a month (plus one time upfront interest 4% for 20 month) ? hmm.gif
You are almost there. You pay RM150 per month for 20 month but the 4% upfront interest will be charged in the first month along with your RM150 1st payment. You'll feel a slight pinch in the 1st month.

CIMB and Maybank's Petronas co-brand card, which one u think is better?
*
It's an individual preference my friend. Both are more or less the same but maybe you have a preference in mind that you like better than the other. Some prefer the M2U factor in terms of payment but if you ask me ... you can use GIRO interbank transfer to pay for the cc bill, so it doesn't matter if you don't mind the RM2 fee.

Right now I think perhaps the obvious difference is the processing time .... you could get the CIMB card faster than the Petronas card. And if you are using the card locally most of the time then shouldn't be a problem either way. Unless if you intends to use the card outside of the country most of the time then I'll suggest you to get a card issued by an international bank and consider VISA instead of Mastercard.

Any specific reason why are you suggesting him to get VISA instead of Mastercard ? All the countries i've been to accept both VISA and Mastercard. But AMEX is still the best  tongue.gif
I've been to countries where you can count the numbers of merchants accepting credit card. (Not even past 10 fingers) And they only accept VISA credit card. But I'll agree with you that most countries do not have this problem.
AMEX is a different league altogether - I guess most Malaysians prefer the credit card model where they can choose not to pay the entire bill if they want to.

Do you have bad payment history ? Bad loan may be ? May be you should try local bank.
Maybe this person should go to Bank Negara and check whether she's being blacklisted (FIS/CTOS list) in some way unknowingly. At least she can act upon it if she knows the truth.

Yes, I agree. It's rather weird but not to jump to conclusions, just make that check at Bank Negara.

I know a friend who had a similar problem - clean record, no debt and suddenly when want to make loan/credit card application was rejected by every bank. Finally, one bank mentioned that the name was blacklisted in FIS/CTOS due to someone failed to make payment many years back and the bank proceeded to blacklist the borrower and guarantors. This friend was the guarantor and unknowingly got blacklisted for something he/she did not do. (I think it's unfair to the guarantor) hmm.gif
