QUOTE(SilverSpoon @ Jun 19 2009, 06:00 PM) Is it because of the converter? (i don't even know if such converter exist or not). Anyway, i did my homework already, i'm eyeing on Dell S2409W 24" ful hd monitor, but still, not so soon. Gotta save $$ 1st. Depends if you get a VGA converter or a VGA cable, both functioned differently and sadly terribly as well. If you are on a budget I would suggest you choose Acer's H233 over Dell's S2409, try audition both. Added on June 19, 2009, 6:05 pmQUOTE(ajis @ Jun 19 2009, 06:02 PM) played PS2 at LCD screen, with component cable and the display doesn't seem to look even better, same like setup with AV cable, any advice? Are you sure? Well some PS2 games look ok on LCD some not, especially 2D/older titles. If you don't mind I can visit your house and help you out This post has been edited by gundamalpha: Jun 19 2009, 06:05 PM

It should look better than playing through your PS2 This post has been edited by gundamalpha: Jun 19 2009, 06:15 PM

QUOTE(amduser @ Jul 1 2009, 07:29 PM) i buy my display unit samsung series 6 32" full HD LA32A650 for RM2350 while the price for new one is around RM3350, but the TV got scratch at the frame there, lucky not the screen you mean PS3 to PC monitor?? you need a monitor with DVI input, then use a HDMI-DVI cable to connect your PS3 to the PC monitor. And more importantly but often left out is the monitor must be HDCP compliant

QUOTE(sammesul81 @ Jul 4 2009, 01:50 PM) hello sifu... what's the major difference between lcd monitor and lcd tv? i know lcdtv is bigger and expensive than monitor but in term of delivering HIGH DEFINITION, which is better? im thinking of taking lcd monitor acer H233H for RM669, but at the same time the sales rep said that lcd monitor can make your eyes fatigue and blind if u stare too long. is it true? Budget is important, but viewing distance is equally so. Obviously the bigger the screen, the further you sit. As for performance, most better TVs have matched up to their monitor counterpart. And as for eye fatigue it's mostly due to excessive brightness the screen produced, especially those with high dynamic contrast ratio. And for blindness to occur, it is possible if you play on a 24" monitor while sitting on a 50" TV distance, or something happen to the monitor and explode right in front of your eyes. Otherwise the sales rep was just BS and try to con you to buy the TV. And finally my personal opinion, go ahead with H233H if you are sitting right in front of the monitor

QUOTE(sammesul81 @ Jul 4 2009, 02:11 PM) ok thanks. but which one is better for HIGH DEFINITION? Full HD monitor like H233H, RM669. Full HD 32" TV, ~RM2300+. There's no such thing as which is better for HD, if you sit on the right distance you can differentiate all the pixels, if you sit far away you can't differentiate all the pixels even on a monstrous 100" TV. That's why viewing distance is so important.

QUOTE(YunaX @ Jul 7 2009, 11:31 AM) guys I am wondering. I have this VGA cable for my PS3 on a 17" 4:6 lcd mon: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-01-49-en-70-2jp6.htmlcan't say that I'm satisfied with the results, as it only supports Ps3 and Wii, which caused me to purchase another BOX for my PS2. Besides, it stretches the picture when I set it to 720p. Unlike Xbox360, which fits the whole widescreen into the monitor, leaving black sections on both top and bottom. That's what I want , not some stretched graphics! What about the VGA BOX 2198P? What's the distinction between this box and the cable? thanks If you only asked before you buy.. that cable stinks. It converts 480p/720p/1080p component signal to RGB signal and nothing else. The conversion is done pretty bad.

I'm not sure about the VGA box you are talking about. But there's a VGA box from PA that does a decent job converting/upscaling/rescaling priced at $69.90 (or $79.90?). And you can get a cheaper one from SCE in BTS (if they still have it) called HD Box Pro which uses the same chip as the one selling in PA, in fact that's the real thing and PA one is a clone.

QUOTE(wallance13 @ Jul 8 2009, 09:29 AM) I saw the smallest HD LCD recently. The Sony 22" LCD HDTV. The quality looks realy good.. but the price is quite ridiculous too.. abt RM2499. With this Price can actually buy a 32" HDTV. And you can get a 24" FullHD with that price as well too, possibly 32" FullHD as well.. since it's Sony so it's normal to be overpriced

QUOTE(durian @ Jul 8 2009, 11:02 AM) what about for samsung UA46B6000 LED 46"? (i have to sell a limb for it) for movies/PS3 view from 6 feet away (awesome) for pc gaming/surfing from 3-4 feet away (my eyes will be bleeding) or rm750 dell s24092 LCD monitor (24") or should i settle with something in between? say a 32" fullHD LCD TV? this is for my room. i'm tired of sharing TV with ppl already. finally have some time alone go home. sister watching drama. pisses me off i'm kinda reluctant to get a 32" because the price difference is so huge compare to a dell 24" for the additional 8" i'm not sure it's worth it. if already already paying for it. i rather fork 5k out for the LED tv so what should i go for Since it's for your room can I assume it's quite dark? Because if that's the case I would recommend you plasma rather than LCD. If your room is very bright then stick back to LCD then. Haven't got the chance to play with LED TVs, can't comment on that. But for monitor I would rather get Acer H233H than Dell S2409.

QUOTE(sammesul81 @ Jul 10 2009, 01:24 PM) hello, which 1 is better? using HDMI to DVI cable?or HDMI to HDMI? its for my acer lcd monitor.. Both the same, except that DVI do not have sound pass through Added on July 10, 2009, 2:45 pmQUOTE(gh0sty @ Jul 10 2009, 02:42 PM) Which would you choose? 32inch LCD TV HD Ready with 30000:1 Contrast Ratio Price range from RM1700-2000 or 23inch LCD Monitor Full HD with 40000:1 Contrast Ratio Price range from RM600-700 The 32 inch is definately bigger and 3x the price of the monitor whereas the LCD monitor gives you a higher specification and very much cheaper... I am having a hard time deciding... Should I go for quantity or should I go for quality? Go for something that fits your viewing distance This post has been edited by gundamalpha: Jul 10 2009, 02:45 PM

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Jul 11 2009, 07:54 PM) The LCD doesn't have 16:9 zoom in so the image on screen will be stretched to 16:10 making many games look distorted. Not a good deal. I suggest you save up another RM250+ for an Acer H233H. 1600:900 is 16:9 right?
