Depends if you get a VGA converter or a VGA cable, both functioned differently and sadly terribly as well.

If you are on a budget I would suggest you choose Acer's H233 over Dell's S2409, try audition both.

And more importantly but often left out is the monitor must be HDCP compliant

Budget is important, but viewing distance is equally so. Obviously the bigger the screen, the further you sit. As for performance, most better TVs have matched up to their monitor counterpart. And as for eye fatigue it's mostly due to excessive brightness the screen produced, especially those with high dynamic contrast ratio. And for blindness to occur, it is possible if you play on a 24" monitor while sitting on a 50" TV distance, or something happen to the monitor and explode right in front of your eyes. Otherwise the sales rep was just BS and try to con you to buy the TV.

And finally my personal opinion, go ahead with H233H if you are sitting right in front of the monitor

Full HD monitor like H233H, RM669. Full HD 32" TV, ~RM2300+. There's no such thing as which is better for HD, if you sit on the right distance you can differentiate all the pixels, if you sit far away you can't differentiate all the pixels even on a monstrous 100" TV. That's why viewing distance is so important.

If you are getting H233H then it will come with one HDMI as well

I would prefer my wife watching TV more often so I won't be bug when playing game

If you only asked before you buy.. that cable stinks. It converts 480p/720p/1080p component signal to RGB signal and nothing else. The conversion is done pretty bad.

I'm not sure about the VGA box you are talking about. But there's a VGA box from PA that does a decent job converting/upscaling/rescaling priced at $69.90 (or $79.90?). And you can get a cheaper one from SCE in BTS (if they still have it) called HD Box Pro which uses the same chip as the one selling in PA, in fact that's the real thing and PA one is a clone.

Ya, that's the PA one I mentioned. I never tried the one you are talking about though so I can't comment.

Never heard of X233H but my personal recommendation would be Acer H233H

And you can get a 24" FullHD with that price as well too, possibly 32" FullHD as well.. since it's Sony so it's normal to be overpriced

Since it's for your room can I assume it's quite dark? Because if that's the case I would recommend you plasma rather than LCD. If your room is very bright then stick back to LCD then. Haven't got the chance to play with LED TVs, can't comment on that. But for monitor I would rather get Acer H233H than Dell S2409.
