QUOTE(blademaster @ Mar 25 2008, 03:33 AM) I have to disagree with you that the PRS are LP copies. The slimmer ones are still a copy of the Gibson's SG haha...GIBSON all the way man (sad thing I'm poor like sh!t) Not all PRS are LP copies, true the PRS singlecut bears similarities with the LP, but only a blind man would not be able to tell the difference. I love gibsons myself, but i also love PRS. They're totally different. |

I just got back from Simon's place [Well not just, a few hours back]
he had this modded Behringer Vintage tube overdrive VT911 i think it was? Lets put a short review the stock VT911 With level set only at 4 and drive at 2 with tone at 5 [middle] it was really really fuzzy, doesn't sound anything like an overdrive its bottom end was mushy. Definitely not something to use to do some clean overdrive. However with drive at slightly less than one, the level slight more bout 5-6 you can get a pretty good tube breakup sound. Warm but the bassy was still horrible fuzzy. I then switched over to the lead channel on the Hughes and Kettner Attax 80. Onboard settings as with the clean, was all neutral [ala 12 o'clock, from gain to equalization] My initial bad impression, immedietely turned wtf! this baby does great driving the amp, making it sound very tubey and warm. Very articulate on the high notes, but quickly gets drowned if you play the lower strings. Plagued by the same problem this carries, horribly fuzzy sounding bass. The low end is just horrible. Settings was level at 8, tone at 5 drive nearly at 1. [1-10 scale] But still the change it made to the solidstate amp was drop dead incredible. Also it really maintained the great dynamics the HnK amp was carrying which was extraordinary to begin with, I haven't played with a SS amp this dynamic [sorrylah, i poor, only play lousy SS amps =(] So I did a few more other settings, pretty good gain booster, minus the bad bass. Overall rating 6.5/10, Clean drive 5.5/10, dirty drive 7.5/10 Goes for 250MYR Then surprise surprise, Simon said, "eh go see the modded one la, u try and see" As he said, I took the modded VT911 plugged it in, and POOF with the clean drive i was like @_@!!!! IS THIS THE SAME THING? JUST MODDED?!?!?! The clean drive sounded great!!! [settings again level@5 tone@5 drive@2-3] It's even warmer then what my bad monkey can do to my AD50 w/ blackface model bonuses to it is that it retained much of the dynamics, bass frequencies and has great note definition. The bass is now powerful and tight instead of fuzzy and flabby. A huge difference from the stock model. Having such great anticipation to move to the lead channel, i poped the switch. Settings was at level@9 tone@5 drive@1 the lead channel was full, warm and god im lazy to describe anymore. Sum it up, good. Better than before. With its bass fuzzy problem solved, it sounds awesome. Summary, improved bottom end, much smoother and alot more articulate on the bass. Very neutral, not much of mid hump like the TS. Overall 8.5/10 [Clean drive 8.5/10 Dirty drive 8.5/10] For 400MYR its a quite a steep price to pay for an OD but it IS a modded pedal so I personally feel its quite a justified price. I firmly believe this mod sounds way superior to the Cooltron Big Ben overdrive [which I've been GAS-ing for forever]. Probably it can rival a Fulltone OCD. I'm not as senior as many members here, so I feel that to justify my statements, please go ahead and try it yourself. [and prove me whether im right or wrong just want to know how accurate i can review stuff.] Apart from this..... I now feel that the AD series seriously lacks dynamics, HELPPPPPPPPP Hope this This post has been edited by sean392: Mar 30 2008, 01:23 AM |

QUOTE(plankton @ Apr 4 2008, 10:42 AM) lol.. why didnt i think of that before.. History repeating, Scott Weiland started the tension within the band in several live performances when he walked off the stage because he wasn't satisfied with the sound settings. velvet revolver breaking up? maybe slash wants to go solo.. wait, slash is inside that band right ?? The entire band always had to persuade him to come back to finish up, though badly. Pressure from rehab? Well, being a big fan of GnR and VR, but I found Libertad rather disappointing. Contraband wasn't that bad though, it was actually pretty cool. |

QUOTE(quarantined @ Apr 6 2008, 02:40 PM) I actually got to play one in The Guitar Store Cheras, when they were doing stock take. They let me play with it despite it was so new, they didn't have the pricelist for it yet.Compared to my MIK LP classic, the neck is shaped more V-like, a wee bit thicker, weight wise similar, but the tobacco burst doesn't look too good. Played it off a small solid state amp. I thought the cleans were really bright, the overdrive tones, quite bright as well, but it still retains some of the fatty tones. I don't think it was that great of a experience though, the rosewood fretboard looked like it came out of the Sahara desert, really dry and really bright colored, not a dark tan you'd expect from rosewood. The flame veneer looked like they should have just used plaintops instead =/ Also, I remember seeing the serial no. starting with EE, and the body was a little smaller compared to my LP. All MIC LP and even some 2004 MIK LP seems to have smaller body. The knobs I recall weren't really installed well, the bridge tone was grinding on the top. Kudos to TGS cheras for the great service tho, but I really thought Epi Slash was quite mediocre for its now known price. =/ |

QUOTE(blademaster @ Apr 8 2008, 05:51 PM) so do you know your way to get to guitarcenter as soon as you step out of the airport? I'd recommend against purchasing anything from that arrogant person. What about Ed Roman guitars? I heard sometime they got like really crazy sales He is very opinionated and he's the least subjective person in the world, his credibility is quite questionable. Ever heard of the OLP > EBMM fraud? Tonnes of other reasons why I recommend against it. Go do some homework and read some articles. p/s he hates asians. This post has been edited by sean392: Apr 8 2008, 08:00 PM |

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Apr 16 2008, 10:28 PM) Darn, one of the wires connecting to the guitar jack came off... gotta solder it back zzz. Get the iron real hot, just heat the solder, reattach the cable and leave to cool. If the existing lead is too thin, add a little. I'd suggest using thin tip pliers to handle the wires when applying. Cause it might get a little hot inside the wire, to avoid any probable accidents due to reflex. Any tips on soldering? Any soldering iron would do right? Good luck |

Guys my teacher fender have a volume and a tone knob ; shud i get it? he say its the 83' model . he din tell me it was standard , deluxe or wat but he said to me 1st price was 5000 plus and he selling to me at 3k .. is he bull shyting me? But a very senior guitar player already said its tortoise. If you don't know, please don't sound so challenging to one who is much more experienced than you. Fenders has many guitars in the 80's, which? P/S try not to be so ambiguous with your questions, Fender is a brand, a guitar manufacturing company, not a model of a guitar.
