what? is it a shop overthere or outdoor? you play alone? never heard that setapak got archery sport.... i am interested leh.....got equipment include for use or not? if i want to buy this kind equipment, where can i buy it? any good suggestion?

of cause dont be too expensive because i am new, got around RM500 or not??

Woah.. Finally found a place for archery. Anyways, this thread dont seems active. Sorry for bumping it up. I was once a student (member) of KIAA (Kuching Indoor Archery Academy), finished their basic and junior traning. Got the basic and knowledge of proper archery shooting. I just wander, is there any archery academy or center near PJ area? Because im going to to continue my study at UTAR i feel like to continue my archery training. So, i would like to know is there any place i can go for traning. Any advise will be well appreciated.

fuwaa..archery...it has been a long time since ive gone to archery.. 5 years ago i think..now, all the arrows bengkok already, my bow i gave it to Melaka Archery Association..the bow was beginners bow with 32 pound rating..

it is a sport that demands a lot of concentration especially when you have released more then 200 arrows per session.. mind over matter...

my advise is to find some bicycle tube.. cut it and make a loop and train your draw form in front of a mirror.. when you got your form right, then you can try the real thing...

what i did back when i was in archery is study videos from someone that is good.. and look at how they draw the arrow..try to replicate it..but in the end, you will have your own style/form..get the basics right first..

Woah.. Got ur own bow? Thats is great.. Duh! I wish to have one. By then, 32pound? Thats quite tight. I was on 24pound when i first start and up til 30.

Draw tyre? Haha.. Different method. When the time i start joined, i was been force to draw the bow with string and without arrow for 2months then i can go for the real thing. Went practice 3 times a week. 3 hours per session. Draw till muscle claim.

i use to have a compound bow 2, it is 38 pound if im not mistaken...

drawing an empty bow is dangerous and not suitable for beginners.. cause if you accidentally release the empty bow, the bow will eventually crack...so it is better using tyre than a bow.. furthermore, you can bring it anywhere unlike a bow and it is more convenient.

anyone here goes hunting with bow? wanna learn this stuff...damn fun

i played archery for 4 years.. just for you info. well i bought the equipment at UFL. not sure where it is located right now cause i heard to already moved somewhere else. i got myself hoyt matrix for around 2k and hoyt g3 44lbs, also around 2k. roughly total price 5k++ including shibuya sight, beiter stabilizer etc.
as for early training, i agreed that u should get yourself a bicycle tube or something. if u want tips on archery i will gladly help.

There are actually special rubberbands for sale to serve this purpose. Price was RM10 at 2004, should be still about the same Then again, there's always differences between that and the real thing Archery's feeling is just.....

I currently own a W&W with this and that equipments - left at home collecting dust Where is this Prima Setapak? I'm from Sarawak currently studying at INTI SJ, so basically I don't know the areas here. Hope to continue shooting, regret so much for giving it up Anywhere around here or places easily accessible by public transportations? Now I'm working part-time at Stars Archery @ Sunway Pyramid, but it's freaking really really short distance :-\ And well, work, don't get much chances to shoot either.

Sukma 2008 terengganu.. a few of my friends participated in archery. their score for 90m and 70m men also 70m and 60m women already published last night. They did well. Today is 50m and 30m, hope all of them perform better than yesterday. anyway it has been a week since the last time i train. i think i'm going to get myself a new gear today. i heard the coach of UIA already open an archery shop near shah alam, so i'm going to take a look.

p/s: I'm not sure if there's any archery range nearby SJ. i try to ask some of my affiliate, maybe they'll show us the light.

can i ask where can buy bow and arrows... wanna start this sport

hurm.. in kl there are 2 shops selling archery equipment, UFL and Lion Archery.. you can surf their website to find out more. well, i discarded my hoyt matrix and g3 limb. I just got myself new riser, inno carbon, and inno power limb (W&W). Not sure whether it was worth it. Tomorrow will be a busy day to prepare the string for the new bow, adjust center shot etc.. ah...

Sarawak is strong in archery, honestly. Their form is beautiful and steady, back in 2004 something. Not sure about now. The only sarawak archer that i knew, is one of my friends, kaharudin, otherwise nicknamed kudin. p/s: congrats to him, snatching most of the medals

cassplayer, 5k only complete with full set stab., sight. clicker, arrow rest. still doesn't come with bowstand, quiver. arrows are another story.. really pricey, my X10 priced almost 2k complete with point, nock, fletchers.
Just went to Lion Archery, KAP bow is quite cheap and affordable. KAP riser priced at 400+ compared to Inno Carbon tagged at around 3018 or Hoyt Nexus, 2700+. Just use KAP limb, with KAP riser, full set stabilizer, and cheap sight. I'm sure you can get full set around 1.5k. Just buy cheap arrows for beginner. Please bring someone experienced with archery, in term of selecting correct riser, limb, arrow set (arrows are selected according to limb poundage).

If you want wooden bow set (with limb, sight and arrows), probably around 800. Try to call the shop and ask sorry i couldn't help much

Updates: i forgot i got price list from recent item that i purchased from the shop. cheapest will be samick wooden bow (include limb) rm405, accessories complete, rm292, aluminum arrows around rm200 per dozen complete with fletches,point and nock, hope that'll help

Suggest you develop the passion first, then straight go for an advance bow

Ah nice, inno carbon and inno limbs, that's what...well..i suppose can call them my juniors are using now.

Kudin..sounds very familiar..didn't get the chance to know the state archers cause' I kept quitting and returning so didn't get to advance in regret now..

Miri used to bring up only recurve archers, now bringing up compound archers too for the less-frequent training ones Probably I need to swap to compound, but..recurve just seems much better.. I asked a friend who swapped to compound what he thinks.. He said compound easier to shoot, but no feeling like what recurve provided

Btw, any idea about a school in Keramat? 3 friends of mine currently in sukma got offered there..
