no, you don't understand. No lag is different from more FPS. No lag means a smooth picture. Loosk good, but the lack of FPS means that your brain will be a bit lagging in receiving information from the eyes due to gap between the frames. Higher frames, will fill this gap, and thus you will feel the difference in term of handling, and it will make the difference between that milisecond you need to exactly brake the care where you want it. Even if your monitor's refresh rate is below the FPS, the transition means that it still feels smother to the brain.
That's why I can't play with 60FPS. My brain will feel the car feel sluggish to response. While other players can play on that rate, I can't

wow, that's something new... I never thought that more FPS make such differences. my eyes can catch up just fine with current FPS, and 100+ FPS doesn't seems do any difference in my gaming performance...

lol, twitch shooters love higher FPS. also I came from a sim racing background. Which is why i generally hate Gran Turismo coz the PS2 cap it at 60FPS

well, I do agree that shooter love higher FPS, I do play shooting game alot and a single FPS drop can be deadly, but for racing/sim racing game... nahh... I need to train to achieve that... do I need a wheel to achieve that?

Is it possible to turn off nightime? I have a laptop and can only run Grid on low specs and at night it is to blurry and impossible to see where the track goes during the lemans race so I cannot do the race.

Also why is the game really slow and choppy during the menu screens but once the race starts it is fine? Seems odd to me as I would expect the game to be more of a system hog during the race than the menus.
