Is just my personal preferences always not to use built in flash whenever possible. No light source..then is time test your Camera Iso quality and play with shuttle speed & train ur steady hand. hehehe

You using closest area or single area AF? Try using single area and sticking to the center AF point, use focus lock and recompose if you want to shift the focus point to another part of the frame.

1. MCL probably needs a bit more depth? I think it blurred at "M", would have been nice if M was clear as well.
2. The hibiscus looks out of focus. The idea was good though, the red stood out. 3. How come ada flare at ur model face? The photos were vibrant in colours which was nice. No shots of the classroom? Like some chalk on the board, last words that the teacher wrote on the whiteboard... your desk? |

I noticed that your pictures have a lot of dead space at the top of the photo especially those taken at Cineleisure. Read up on the rules of third and composition and I am sure it will greatly help your photos.

bro..
it's not the jpeg or compression thingy... maybe the exposures u used to compose the HDRI has not enough details in the shadows and highlights... in HDRI.. usually both the shadow(dark) and hightlight(bright) part still retain its details...=) |

yea, any camera after d70 can trigger the sb-600 remotely. but bare in mind that it triggers via flashes from the built in, so sometimes will still see some direct flash. sb800 does a better job as it uses IR i think, not sure.

Impressive. The things you did with your D40. Makes me wanna get one myself...
Do you have any other lens? Or you just go shooting with your kit lens? I noticed that the colours in your photos are very nice. Quite saturated. Is it already like this when taken using your camera, or did you increase the saturation when you photoshopped the photos? This post has been edited by Aurora Boreali: Feb 10 2008, 05:03 PM |

After viewing your flickr, wow I'm speechless. Your photos totally blew my mind off. Didn't think a D40 could produce such breath-taking pictures. Totally believe that it's the photographer not the equipment that matters.
Still very impressed that you only started photography in Nov 07 (well, judging from the time you opened your thread) and you improved so much within just 3 to 4 months. Really respect If you please, would you mind replying to my questions above? Thanks! |

Pop up your built-in flash, dial it -1eV and fill up their faces with the flash. Then it would be better nop no new lens lah how? i didnt resize them, i take the already down sized photos from flickr |

Nothing wrong with the pictures, but of course can improve right? With sunglasses it would be tricky. That you mean your position and all have to be in such an angle that the reflection isn't caught. The fill-in flash would definitely help out a lot especially with the group shots. Because from the photos, it was taken from a low angle, hence the boys were tilting their head downwards while the sun was directly above them causing the shadow. I learned this from one of my workshops with Ted Adnan. He recently blogged about this as well. Check out his blog post here. http://tedadnan.com/blog/?p=122 |

bro, are you still on D40 kitlens (Nikor 18-55mm II ED)?
funny, bcoz i got the same lens but cannot get same quality as yours. Normally i will use my 28-80mm instead. Dono why my lens tends to underexposed even with flash-bounced. typo... too much lens poison now.. This post has been edited by azmihamzah: Mar 26 2008, 11:13 AM |

For normal wedding shot i always on Aperture Priority mode. shot between at 28-80mm f between 4-7 for groups photo, and wide open for close-up portraits. ISO 200-400 with bounce flash.
the 18-55mm one, even i shot at 18mm wide open (f3.5) the image would be underexposed. But looking at shiney's pic i think he shot at f6-7, but the quality is really good compared to me with same lens. |

But looking at shiney's pic i think he shot at f6-7, but the quality is really good compared to me with same lens. yeah, some of my photos are underexposed too, when that happens i use level to make it more balanced. sorry for the misunderstanding. |

QUOTE(azmihamzah @ Mar 26 2008, 12:55 PM) For normal wedding shot i always on Aperture Priority mode. shot between at 28-80mm f between 4-7 for groups photo... This part is subjective..I would suggest normal Canon & Nikon to use between f4.5 to f5.6 for group shots. While FF camera need around f8 to get the DoF But if you got yourselve the not so popular Olympus dSLR that come with extra-DoF technology (I was told all Olympus SLR has this advanced feature), you only need f2.8 to get the DoF. It basically mean you can almost always use wide open for all shots... But be carefull... Althought the Olympus has extra DoF... its autofocus is not reliable in less ideal room light. In that case, I would suggest simply manual focus... No need to view throught the small view finder... agak-agak will do... Remember to take advantage of its high-tech extra-DoF that no other dSLR has... Now... Who said Olympus is a funny brand? |

SPM leaver really got a lot of time to spare. I remembered my time where i managed to do some graphic design work from home. Can earn up to rm200 per day...
good luck to you bro, and to your mother also... She would be proud of you by not loitering around, or "rempit"ting around. Kudos to you bro! |

Looks like cloud version to me. It works quite well.
D80 replacement shouldn't be long now. Rumours has it that it will be out by summer. But most probably in Photokina in September la i think. |

OK let me start first...
after you buy your a350, sell me your SB-600. Then, i will DIY both SB-600 into umbrella strobes and triggered them via commander mode. Pay sofea to be the model, and make you and your new orange toy nose bled... come on, D40 too limited meh? |

I also need to struggle a bit with my D70 5 AF points... @diablo69 sometimes compose>focus>focus lock > recompose won't work especially in high pace situation (weddings, birthday party, etc) where your subject tends to move around. If using small aperture (f8-10) it wont affect much but if aperture is wide open, u can get blur face or worst OOF. |

I refuse to comment because.. ermm.. you didn't comment on mine!
Anyway, nice shots, great candids but the violinist has this permanent "I am shocked" expression on her face. Why ah? For the singer, if there was a moment when she was singing and the mic is away from her face, that would be a great picture moment. At the moment, I think the mic is blocking. Maybe you can try shooting from the side so that the mic is not so much in her face. Ooops, terlalu banyak comments. Anyway, good job as I see that you have regained control over your Sony Alpha colours |

this one, i didn't like the wall. it made the pic look flawed. ![]() one of the many headless shots ![]() what's that faded shade on the right side? ![]() i think if you have UWA lens, it'll add to the list of great photos. keep up the good work! |

Ahh, now i can comment. Very nice and I am sure the couple will be happy.
My only gripe is with Part 1 - Pic 6 because I don't get it. The mics were largely uninteresting and since you chopped off the facial expression, I am not sure what to interpret from that. And Part 3 - Pic 2 because the silhoutte because it is not a clean silhoutte. The light from the window revealed a bit of details on the face. Lol thats my 2 cents |

part 1
2. cant see the bride's face... 3. the wall is too distracting...as goldfries said, it looks flawed 5. the face took up too much space(approx 1/3 of the image) 6. the face chopped off O.o cant find the subject part 2 1. its nice but i think your exposure a lil bit on the bright side.. 2. i like this one 8 an 9 nice part 3 1. OOF i think, you focused on the brides tudung instead of the groom's eyes 2. the brides tudungs jewellery looks like dead pixels 3. very nice compo...maybe can adjust the curve a bit so that the picture can be more punchy? 5 and 6 ps: these are just MO, |

Im trying to show the kid's curiousity. it doesnt mean you have to follow every rule, is it? if you're keep doing it the right way, for me its going to be a common picture like the rest of wedding photos. i dont need to show their faces ( sometimes ), because they already know who is it when they got their album. i hope you know what i mean part 3 1. yes i noticed that 2. lol, i didnt noticed that until you mentioned it 3. is this more personal preferences or ... ? because it seems fine from here 4. that's called acting hehehe, no sweat bro. you can come and criticize my photos any day thanks! Here are some of my comments, the photos are great, but I feel they can be even better. Well just my 2 cents la
2 ![]() The focus is on the hand of the make up artist, focus on the girl who is looking at the make up artist would be a nicer candid shot. Who needs to see the make up artist hand in focus, is there anything special about her hand? 3 ![]() I like this view, seems like you are peeking into the room 6 ![]() Anything significant about the mics? Chopped off faces are alright if there is a meaning to it. 8 ![]() Just curious, the ring is placed on the right hand instead of the left hand? 9 ![]() 10 ![]() Too many picture in a picture shot. But compared to #5 this is better because the h/p screen is properly exposed as compared to the on in #5. 1 ![]() The guy's face a little OOF? 4 ![]() Nothing technically wrong with this image but does the bride really want to see an enlarged version of her feet? 5 ![]() Crop the top part away, the ceiling with the leaking patch is awful and very distracting. If you can't crop it out, please use the clone tool in photoshop and clone away the patch. This post has been edited by Mavik: May 29 2008, 06:05 PM |

QUOTE(Mavik @ May 29 2008, 06:03 PM) Ahhh Mavik, im glad you're here owkay, 1) I admit, i focused it wrongly. i cant get the focus right because the girl start to noticed when i was going for a second try. so i guess i post this one as my best catch. 6) This is the part where he said " saya blablabla <insert name> RM200 etc etc" i think it'll better if i caught him with his mouth was opened. 8) seriously, i dont know. All i know just shoot 4) i guess not 5) i think crop wont work for this one, its my mistake for leaving too much space above the couple. Thanks Mavik, i really appreciate the comments |

wont that more interesting during akad nikah, if you focused both kadi n the pengantin hand "bersalam" rather than the mic.

hello there,
for the droplet shots.. i like the freezing droplets but somehow the gold plated background is distracting me..i am having a hard time to focus on the droplets as the golden shiney background is distracting me... just MO for that wedding shot, i suggest you try to not clip the highlights too much lor... its a lil too saturated for me... i prefer if the shot was just a WB tweak to make it warmer coz the shot perfectly fine to me This post has been edited by orenzai: Jun 15 2008, 12:14 PM |

Its not what i've done right, but to look good. Its not about sharpness, colors, and details at all. Although i did try to loose details at minimum. If you noticed i did some Gaussian blurry effect to give it a glow effect. Im trying to make it even better. |
