For me, Degree or Diploma not so important especially for experience worker as the employer tend to evaluate you base on your working experience before looking at your education level. So, even holding a Diploma, you might be getting a better opportunity if you have very good working experience compare to Degree holder which knows nothing. Your Degree or Diploma only useful if you are a fresh grad since you do not have any working experience to sell yourself when trying to get a job.

good value ...
example ... 2 IT people A and B ... A's task is only update the database for 10 years ...
B task is doing project, has implement 10 projects in 5 years.
who got more value when looking for next job ?

I have experienced with one of our staffs before. His hold a Degree holder in IT. Our boss pay him as a Technical Support Executive and I will reported to him.
First day, our boss ask him to help me repair some users pc....i ask him to check the video card, coz im busy to setup server....i think 30 minutes later his bring to me all the card that his take out from main board....his give me memory too...
... and the next day his not in...
and i also have some experienced with Master Holder in IT....that time we support Motorola Semiconductor Seremban....this guy using notebook....his call me via phone..his notebook can't connected to LAN...then i ask him to tight the LAN cable..his don't know....then i ask to check UTP cable ....also don't know...then i ask to check the RJ45..maybe the small cip broken...lagi dia tak tahu what his RJ45....lastly i said...."bang, u kasi ketat itu wayar yang masuk dekat notebook awak tu!!!.."...then ok...that kind of words more better than IT words.....
which is important???...the guy berlagak dengan master/degree yang pakai kot hitam or...kuli which always clamping the UTP cable????????
i not saying degree always smarter then diploma holders. my point is some company will hire and pay people base on their cert. same to promotion.
as ur case, why you need report to a degree holder? because he a degree holder. but i wont saying all degree holders are genius. as degree is so easy to get nowdays
