Nop... My rigs doing well dont worry! biggrin.gif Its happened to my office pc. Actually is a old school notebook. That what happen when doing large file transferring. Cause we usually use that PC for torrenting. laugh.gif Everything is fine just when after a file been transfer the 2nd file sure will suffer slow transferring speed.

Hm.. Lacking of HT function? AFAIK, i had been use S478 for almost 4yrs, i never faced this kind of problem before. What mobo are u using? Did u install the mobo chipset driver?
*
I am using some odd combination, Pentium 4 1.8GHz 256k cache with Gigabyte 875P chipset. sweat.gif Is this will cause the problem? I dont think so. I reinstall the chipset driver and see if there is any improvement.

QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Nov 29 2007, 08:41 AM)
@layerXT
P4 1.8GHzis quite hard to handle the heavy load due to lack of L2, no HT and low fsb(400). this will be quite noticeable when you running multiple tasks at the same time. like what you mentioned, torrenting and copying large size data. how much ram you having now??

driver may be some of the reason. like fylon said, install latest chipset driver will help to boost a bit the performance. wink.gif
*
I am using 512MB DDR400. I thought 512MB already sufficient enough to operate Windows XP SP2 unless for gaming.

QUOTE(edministrator @ Nov 29 2007, 09:01 AM)
torrenting takes up lots of resources, make sure you have enough RAM. for file transfer, windows startup speed, normal torrenting, the P4 1.8 CPU should be able to handle the tasks just fine. Might be other components that is causing the slowdowns, such as faulty mobo chipset. Me & kabukiawie had encountered same issue on KT2 combo mobos, two same mobo with different HDD transfer speed due to faulty mobo (one very fast read/write, another very slow and take up huge CPU resources). Slow/dying HDD might be the problem also.
*
Thanks for ur comment, will troubleshoot later. notworthy.gif

QUOTE(fylon @ Nov 29 2007, 11:01 AM)
Yea. It might be faulty chipset on the mobo which causing the issues. By then, they might be some other reason also such like ram, harddisk perhaps?

Guys, do u guys face something like when u transfer the 1st file (large size files), the transfer speed is damn, but once it done and continue with 2nd file the transfer speed suddenly drop by alot become slow..
*
I will take note of that. Thanks guys. notworthy.gif

But ur case is weired.I never see this happen before even on notebook.Maybe ur labtop doesn't like odd numbers of files transferring. tongue.gif

@layerXT ,your proc and mobo combination is fine but the torrent program won't eating up so much of resources when BTing. What Bt software you are using?

Anyone knows how to OC the P4P800-X mobo with SATA HDD?

I tried auto OC 10% and manual OC before, my windows can't boot or will have read/write errors when I boot with SATA HDD... then the Windows crashes ... have to reformat lol ..... but if I use IDE can work woo and boot like normal

Using P4 3.0E Prescott HT, 2GB DDR 400 RAM, WD 250GB SATA II

Any ideas? laugh.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

If not I could have been OCing to 3.6GHz now laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Fix the value of AGP and PCI in the bios there.Else you HDD will crash in high frequency.

you have the same mobo like raymond and me. tongue.gif

regarding oc, dont use the oc option in bios. better manually increase the fsb. read some P4 oc guide for information on certain terms. wink.gif

Yea.. I prefer omega driver as if im using ATi card. Its far more stable then the official one. And drive the hardware in a bette way. Owh? Trying to break 2.7Ghz? brows.gif Hope to heard a good feedback from u.
P/s: Did u off all the background program before u run the test? It might help in term of reducing ram & proc usage in order to score better.
*
yeah i've turned off almost everything already.only left the AV i think. should be cpu bottleneck and also cause of the crippled version i have. laugh.gif

*

seems that you are not able to push up more, maybe you can try set to 4:5 to get more from your ram. at least higher bandwidth. it should boost a bit more on your 3dmark03 mark. wink.gif

That is agp apeture, how much the system RAM is going to be allocated for game texture, in case your graphics card memory is fully occupied. recommended settings is 128 or 256MB.
