We have known this is the issue. If the items roll to underneath pedal. 100% deadly. You can blame electronics fault because cannot admit own fault to claim insurance or get compensation. Only way is let the authority to decide.

Honestly do these drivers even realized that you CAN switch to N anytime while driving?

Only if you are using traditional shifter. X50 using electronic shifter its very hard to enter N as the knob always returns to centre

BCM only controls the lights and other non drive functions of the car.

Lady driver probably panicked and step on the pedal or worse case, unable to pay the monthly installments and wanted to claim the insurance for settlement.

The case has no merits why only her car was affected but not others.

Brake can't press can understand but how carpet can cause it to accelerate? Even if specs stuck, for the pedal to stuck there, someone needs to press it to that level first, from dashcam can see she was driving slowly steadily so even if stuck it wouldn't accelerate
