I've called out his BS in the other UEC thread yesterday. He was pretty confident in claiming that UEC is taught 100% in mandarin & history syllabus was all about 5000 years of China history. Dude clearly knew nothing about UEC but just want to join the bandwagon to condemn something that he knew little about.

No

UEC is closer to STPM than SPM

And recognition (or lack) of UEC doesn't mean cann't go to Chinese vernacular school
*
Tq. That's what I thought too. He makes it sound like no recognised UEC means no vernacular school.

UEC should start looking into China STEM level education at their gaokao syllabus. In the future need more advance chinese smart people as nuclear scientist, space engineers, space mining engineers etc. Chinese should move away with comparing with low level Malaysia education. Even a degree from China now is superior than UM

Read Hajiji punya letter lah.

The last sentence - kepujian in BM. He didn't clarify if it's kepujian in SPM BM or UEC BM. If latter, at least u need A1 or A2 for UEC BM to be fluent & survive IF orang tu intent to masuk civil service or IPTA.

Which brought us back to my point, if a student ada UEC + SPM, then whether UEC recognized anot is a non-issue.

The Coverage is known to play up sentiments & what better time to necro the 2021 post when UEC topic is on the menu again?

I'm still waiting for the type-c to claim their right to go back to China: https://web.archive.org/web/20180126104949/...pic/4510576/all

At this stage is not about recognition anymore. It's racing already. Racing gets votes, both sides.

Penang very much has the power, and has recognised UEC on their end:

https://harapandaily.com/2024/10/29/why-not...d-certificates/

"The DAP lawmaker pointed out that UEC is currently recognised by over 200 foreign universities abroad due to its quality as well as by the state governments of Penang and Sarawak."

https://www.sinchew.com.my/?p=2943491

"This means that Sabah has become the 5th state in the country to recognize UEC after Sarawak, Penang, Selangor and Melaka. UEC holders meeting the criteria will be able to get admitted into public universities in these states or serve as civil servants with public service department."

https://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news/267154...ike-warisan-s-/

"The UEC is currently recognized by the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Five Malaysian states now recognise it in various degrees, namely Sarawak, Selangor, Penang and Melaka

https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...-exists/1891723

"Currently, five states — Penang, Melaka, Sabah, Sarawak and Selangor — have announced that they recognise UEC though the students also need to take the Malaysia Education Certificate (SPM) examinations as well."

https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...s-says-academic

"It receives limited recognition as an entry qualification in Sarawak, Selangor and Penang but remains unrecognised at the national level as a requirement for tertiary education and public service applications."

Penangite here but while those links mentioned that Penang recognises UEC, it plays no role in opening up the path for UEC students in getting into the IPTAs.

UEC graduates will still have to opt for SPM in their 5th year in order to land a chance for IPTAs.
