I think there is msiunderstanding among non muslim about Jakim halal certificate.
when business 100% owned by muslim, it was safe to assume it is halal
but there is a case where muslim owned business still take halal certificate. Why?
Jakim halal certificate is approval that the business is halal and complying with the specified legal provisions prescribed by the law of the land.
quote" Proses pensijilan JAKIM melibatkan audit ketat terhadap bahan mentah, pengilangan, dan proses pengedaran, memastikan produk mematuhi piawaian kebersihan dan keselamatan makanan."

so muslim owned street vendor may be halal but could be suspected of been less clean that they should be
So u can go eat at halal certified restaurant if cleanliness is your main concern.

You mean those leaving the reviews are the pundek biz influencers trying to bring him down?

I dunno mang, it seems more like his followers are dumb and idiots. Kononnya nak promote KA and nak bagi hype. On Rembayung website itself, tulis Open in 2026. Apa kejadah sudah ada reviews..

Long answer so skip if u lazy to read :

yes . think of it as a value added , not compulsory

type M to type M, we tend to trust them outright. deswai if u expect those street goreng pisang nasi lemak to get sijil halal, not possible . Agree though its a bias sometime, some shop may seem like "malay" shop, but we dun know if jiken supplier ok o not, clean o not . based on trust .

halal cert is a business ,involves cost, if you have one, means you survived the audit , your restaurant / establishment will go up in perception view.

this is especially true for those type I/ type C restaurants who wants to get type M customers .

you understand better if you go overseas, where for ayam its almost compulsory to see the halal cert before going. When ayam was in Taiwan , Had to download their halal app, to know which restaurants is halal or not . Surely the non muslims taiwanese dun care much about it ,but for muslims visited the country , its a lifesaver. That also doesn't mean its compulsory or non muslim taiwanese need to adhere to , its value added. The taiwanese pipu want to tap into the muslim tourist, deswai they do the cert. benefit ? - muslim tourist will go to their shop. at the end of the day, its just bizniz. of course its up to choice who you want to go .

There is nothing wrong, to be honest, for non-Muslims to think this way.

It stems from the way Muslims traditionally convey their message.

The issue in Malaysia is that non-Muslim-owned establishments are required to obtain halal certification, whereas Muslim-owned establishments are often exempt simply because of their ownership.

On one hand, this makes sense—Muslim owners are expected to understand the concept of halal and ensure that food is prepared in accordance with Islamic guidelines.

However, Malaysia has its own authority, JAKIM, tasked with overseeing halal standards. For fairness and consistency, JAKIM encourages all restaurant owners, including Muslim-owned establishments, to apply for halal certification. This ensures transparency, builds trust among consumers, and strengthens the credibility of halal assurance across the board.

Thanks Jakim & PMX

Kedai kena open at least 3 bulan dulu, then baru boleh apply sijil halal.

For a 4 million ringgit restaurant, you think Khairul Aming no need apply halal cert ah?

His restaurant going to be hype for quite a while like uncle Roger. After few months later crowd will get lesser eventually.

I wonder his food pricing is on the premium side or lower end?
