On Friday (28th November), Cissy Wang, wife of actor Donnie Yen, drew widespread attention after posting on Instagram that the disaster was “not caused by bamboo scaffolding” but by contractors using “non-compliant, China-made flammable safety netting.”

Later that evening, Wang deleted the statement and issued an apology on Weibo, saying she had removed the content to avoid misunderstanding and expressing regret for sharing inappropriate wording.
