QUOTE(ruffy_z @ Nov 25 2025, 08:47 PM) LKY is not fond of China, he is neutral and endorse a 2 major superpower to co-exist and live together. In fact China economic reform at year 1978 benefit Singapore, China no longer spread communism ideology to SEA after he met Deng Xiao Peng. LKY also don't like how US fiddle Singapore politic by infiltration of CIA agent until he has to shame US in front of global media. What he foresee until now is quite accurate, he predict the rise of China will make US uncomfortable since they have been big brother since WW2 time. |

No context on post. It could be a warning on how people want to disrupt China-ASEAN ties.
Temasek has a 19% allocation of investments to China. It would be very strange for Ho Ching to rock that boat. Sinkieland number 1 trading partner remains China. No one is that dumb to rock that boat (except possibly the Aussies). |

It could be a warning on how people want to disrupt China-ASEAN ties. exactly. lawrence was a bit noob in his reply. but SG definitely invested a lot in China, and they definitely prefer China ppl > Bharats. I have SG friends working in the gov dept approving PR. Malaysian Chinese fastest to get, followed by China Chinese and sometimes ang moh cause no choice big investments from them. Rich Indians, high paying Indians, rich Indonesians all wont get PR easily even after more than 10-20 years in Singapore. Because Malaysian Chinese and China Chinese names are similar to Singaporean Chinese. Easy to blend in, culture etc. Malaysian Chinese can even get citizenship within 2-3 years, then PR 1-2 years can get. Of course we are talking about office working folks la. not pencuci pinggan in restaurant or waiter/waitress level.Temasek has a 19% allocation of investments to China. Sinkies has grown distaste over CCP over the years, due to the rising geopolitical tensions, and somewhat CCP pressured SG to pick side, SG position is getting more awkward by daysand Ho Ching must have forgotten what the Japanese soldiers did to her great/grand parents back then that he loves Japan so much. i can understand the reason why Lawrence voiced out to defend Japan, both SG and Japan have similar situation actually, both also being island state, both also scarce in natural resources, both economies heavily rely on sea, and both countries also have very little buffer in case of any assaults happen against them last time when Mahathir was PM, he always threatened to cut off water supply to SG, until SG had to say any attempt to cut off supply is tantamout to act of war, and that SG has the right to take military action against the water plant facility in Johor |
