Now there is a big hoo haa about the 70% discount.

Back in 2020 during Covid, I got 3 police summons in one trip - two of these summons were at a 90km stretch (at Ipoh area). I never got a single PDRM summon before or since then.

RM150 each, totally RM450. With the discount, the total is RM150.

In any case, my serious question is, what can the consequences be if we never pay? Everyone I know has never paid their PDRM speeding summons.

AES summon I had once, cleared it immediately. I was told that could have an impact on renewing road tax etc.

It was said after this period if you don't make use of the discount, it will revert back to the original amount from next year onwards, but any new summons from then on will only get cheapest amount when you pay within a certain period of time, after that all out max until court action or blacklisting.

From AI:

Malaysia is offering up to a 70% discount on traffic summonses from November 1 to December 30, 2025, before new, standardized rates take effect in 2026. The discount does not apply to non-compoundable offenses, such as those involving expired licenses, and is subject to a minimum payment of RM30. Payments can be made through the MyBayar PDRM platform, at district traffic counters, or at post offices.
What to know about the 70% summons discount
Campaign period: November 1 to December 30, 2025.
Applicable offenses: Compoundable offenses. This discount does not apply to non-compoundable (NC) offenses.
Minimum payment: The final discounted rate will have a minimum payment of RM30.
How to pay:
MyBayar PDRM platform for users registered with MyDigital ID.
All district traffic counters nationwide.
Post offices nationwide.
Why the discount? This is a limited-time offer to encourage motorists to settle outstanding summonses before a new system is implemented on January 1, 2026.
New system: After December 30, 2025, a new policy titled "the less you delay, the less you pay" will be enforced, with no further discounts offered for unpaid summonses after 60 days.

Discounted total should be rm135, not 150.

For me the discount is RM150 > RM50. It's not 70%, I wonder why too.

Kind of sad to read this thread. People actually openly asked whether it's ok not to pay summon.

Starting January 1, 2026 a new saman structure following the ‘The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay’ principle will be in place, with no more discount campaigns. “This is because discounts based on programmes are unfair to those who are responsible and pay their summonses early,” Loke said.

In this new structure, compounds paid within one to 15 days will be entitled to a 50% reduction, while a 33% reduction awaits those who pay between 16–30 days. It’s the full compound rate with no discounts for 31–60 days and court action/blacklisting for unpaid saman 61 days and above.

Is this really true? They will blacklist those with unpaid summons above 60 days? Do our legal framework support this? If yes, it's likely the best thing that ever happened, but I am highly suspicious.

Before this, u dont pay, no problem bro. But start 2026, u must pay. majority not aware about this. I too have more than 10 years outstanding summon, settle down 2 years ago if I not mistaken.

Like I said, police will not find u. nothing consequence if u not pay for old system. but next year, outstanding summon that never been clear, automatic will go blacklisted, while new summon will be blacklisted in 2 months.

People speeding everyday because nothing happen if dont pay, your speeding summon will never become blacklisted, I have 10 years speeding summon never converted into blacklisted summon.

Start middle next year, u will see, people that speeding will become less. Painful wo if got summon and need to pay fast. I bet my finger, majority people will start follow speedlimit. I said, majority ya. those who drive continental such as bmw and mercedes is not majority. they are rich, they will keep driving fast.

Its in the law but never been implemented like demerit score system. start next year, demerit score will kick in too. worse case scenario, your driving license can be suspended if demerit score is low.

you dont pay, you will get letter to appear in court, you dont appear in court, you will get blacklisted & arrest warrant issued

they dont actively seek people with arrest warrant but if one day you were stopped by an officer for any reason (random inspections/roadblock), better pray they dont run your name in the system for warrants.

it can and will happen but usually when they are in bad mood, senior officers are around or you just pissed them off enough to do so

Even 'mat rempit' like me pays my summons every time as soon as I am aware of it. I rather have a clear conscious mind.
But i do know of people like ts and his circle just yolo-ing because they think no consequences. Well its their choice, really. And when the consequences come, its fully theirs to bear.

TS is like the usual customers who cry father mother when cannot renew their road taxes or get blacklisted by JPJ.

The police could arrest you should they find you have too many summonses unpaid and blacklisted.

Too slow for you doesn't always mean it's not suitable for all. The roads are for everyone to use. Each user has different type of vehicle and different skill level. The authorities have to decide on a most sensible limit.
