Hi All,

I've been using Maybank Premier Wealth, would prefer to put my funds in account instead of FD due to flexibility. In Maybank Premier Wealth, above Rm500,000, they only give 2.3% interest.

I've come across CIMB Preferred, above RM1 million, they provide 3%. It is high compared to 2.3%. However, I have come across other foreign banks such as OCBC offers even higher interest rate.

All these while I've been using Maybank Premier because I would perceive it would be more convenient as I'm a local, as in funds transfer etc. If foreign bank provides significantly higher interest, I might consider to move my funds there.

Can anyone who has experience or account owner may share your opinion please? Thank you!

Need to evaluate your motivation for Premier Banking, when Internet Banking is so efficient. Is it for client entertainment, self gratification, prestige, etc?
The same amount $$$ into asnb, Kwsp, high yielding stocks will gain you so much more interest.
Only you know the reason n actions. If you really flushed with cash, n loves the Premier ambience, why worry abt $5-10k annual interest loss... You win some, lose some. But, over the years.. The loss $$$ from interest earned will stack up, n suddenly you realized hard earned money burnt.... Wud have been better used to sponsor orphanage, n really needy csr orgs....or your old age.

Can any sifu advice if the RM800 annual fee for the Private Banking Current Account is waive-able? Assisting a friend to ask.

Used to be very easy even after the 2008 financial crisis until the 1MBD issue blew up. Nowadays you’ll be asked a lot of questions and there are a lot of paperworks too.

Someone I know took 6 months to successfully open a HSBC USA account and that was 2 years ago. 4 months before the HSBC USA account was opened, he flew to US with his son who was about to start his uni life there and both him and his son managed to open a Bank of America account almost on the spot.

HL priority banking no standard.service is slow ,lack of amenities and fd promo is the same as mass market

their priority account no benefits, i wonder what is the pull factor?

So its now ok to fall below? 😶

i think with pandemic hitting 2020 and 2021.
Banks should have waived those AUM charges knowing that people dont even use thier facilities " CAR PARK , COFFEE , no RM serving you "

Just for sharing
i had applied Priority banking with HLB . i was than communicate with RM before account opening .  I went to the nearest branch to open the account on Friday .it took 1 week for me to complete the whole process
and i have to go 2x , 1st time application (Friday ) , 2nd time( following Friday ) to activate online account and collect the PB debit card .
In a summary , there are no different with PB account and a normal banking account . I would not recommend HLB PB Account as the account opening took so long . Most of the  bank will settle in the same day .
There are also not as generous as other bank ,  not much freebies as well as the rate is not so good.
