Roads leading into Kelantan congested, motorists facing 28-hour journeys

KOTA BARU: Roads leading into Kelantan are badly congested, with some road users taking 28 hours to travel to the state.

A TikTok user, Jihh, shared his experience of the unusually long journey from Sungai Buloh, Selangor to Pasir Mas on TikTok on Saturday (Sept 13).

"I drove for 28 hours from Sungai Buloh to Pasir Mas," he wrote in his post, adding in jest that his journey was more "satisfying" because he drives a manual transmission four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Traffic on Friday (Sept 12) was already congested with typical travel times of around 12 hours – still long but shorter than the situation on Saturday, reported Sinar Harian.

Retired civil servant Che Abdullah Che Ahmad, 45, said it took more than 12 hours to return to his village in Machang from Kelana Jaya, Selangor on Friday.

"I left at 7am on Friday and arrived around 7pm. Three hours of no movement on Karak before entering Kelantan and another three hours stuck in Gua Musang," he said.

Che Abdullah said he chose to drive during the day so he would not feel sleepy even though he knew roads would be congested.

Could you ev owner share some feedback on how the trip went?

For example, with a full charge, how far were you able to go in this traffic?

Did you manage to reach your destination without recharging, or did you need to stop halfway and stay overnight, and continue the next day?

The central spine road still under construction, there will be charger station on the rest stations along the highway once its done.
The problem is, dunno when it will be done.

If BYD really start selling seagull EV at rm50k we are going to have BIG PROBLEM with charger during long holidays.

Looking at the trend. Soon EV secondary values will drop drastically to almost equal or lower than ICE secondary market to the extent that secondary ICE car is going to be second option for 2nd hand buyers. This will probably happen in 5 years time, I suppose. This happened to manual cars when auto cars starts to become mainstream. And it will be repeated for IVE vs EV/HEV/PHEV

Even if ECRL is completed, most travelers still need to rent a car to get around KB.
And I doubt many would be willing to pay for car rental.

Shd be around there. I think we can safely say the EV era will start this year once P1 and P2 starts to sell the EV. And give them another 3-4 years and then it will be reaching the secondary market. Max is 5 years for the secondary market to start getting more EVs.

I doubt that. Car loans is one of the major income for banks. They might value it lower and probably increase the interest rates to mitigate the risks.
I doubt I will get a used EV. Too risky especially an EV on secondary market 5 years from now is actually EV of the present. But who knows about the future. Maybe I might change my mind 😂😂😂😂😂

Go ask your local used car salesman if they take used EVs You’d have and if the banks can do financing.

Now, chances are they are selective on which EV they will take. In 5 years time, they are forced to cos by the EV will be more prominent and they have no choice if they want to stay in BZ. If I recall, EV sales is like 7-8% of TIV this year…. And with P2 and P1 coming out with lower costs EV, that can be a potential game changer. I am not pro EV. I hope to own one later when it’s tech and infra is more mature. Until then, it is ICE and HEV for me.
