yes for games mostly in cpp, but java is more commonly used in other areas

java's strength is its a higher level language hence it have more features and frameworks than cpp, u will write lesser lines of code in java than in cpp for developing the same app and the code will be less complicated in java too, thats why many ppl prefer java over cpp

but cpp strength is speed and efficiency, so unless u wan best performance and speed then u choose cpp
