QUOTE(stevenlee @ Nov 26 2007, 11:53 PM) i will going to order my vostro 1400 soon with installment for 12 month using citibank cc.... cos now got RM350 rebate....still thinking whether is a good choice or not... what you guy think on vostro design??? cos i never face 2 face with it yet.. scare later the design let me down Dell Vostro 1400 is best for budget-minded user who doesn't mind a hip lid color customization and silver accent palmrest normally found on Inspiron series for home-centric users. Otherwise it should have the same build like Inspiron 1420, provided you choose the webcam. However, I ain't sure about warranty procedures for Vostro. You shouldn't fear the design if you're comfortable with fully-black laptop already hehe

You can only get up to Dual 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT utilizing NVIDIA SLI Technology and AGEIA PhysX Mobile Technology processing unit from this XPS line for now. ... screenies update coming up: FPS HEAVEN!!!

QUOTE(derred @ Nov 25 2007, 12:06 PM) Gaza sup it has been awhile since I last see u. Did u know my m9700 has r.i.p? It's very long long story. It isn't the bad story about a company, it's actually a great news (at least for me). 8800m gtx is waiting for me... Haha, that was a beauty, but like you said, the new 8800m series will be yours soon. So are you on el-cheap-o machine atm? Been busy playing Orange Box recently, maybe i could post some screenies/benchmarks on that. So I got the opportunity "replacement" (don't ask WHY and HOW,cause it is super-long and complicated that we can think of), and have given d opportunity to get the upcoming 8800gtx in 15 incher basically at no cost (for me that is). Yup I said no cost. m9700 was a great system but sadly it has fail to survive. Rite now I am on a budget desktop (sub-600 usd) but since I get the XFX 8800gt like 2 days ago, it just increase to a 820 usd. Can't wait to get the laptop and sync both together..

Good, keep on guys. Gaza, I'll update the contribution and other changes to the first post later after LYN database has finished merging.
And about Fraps, get the latest version on the first page first, install, tinker with it afterwards. It's going to be easy to capture frame rates screenies.

Noob here
Since they say dedicated memory of the video card is 256 MB , is there a way to increase it using Ram or HD?
I read the RivaTuner link , is it something do with overclock your graphic card?
And can i overclosk my cpu speed?
Is it safe on a laptop , and what software should i use?

endless9930,
are u currently on ur SLi-ed 8700m? Please please do not overclock anything. U'll void ur warranty and left with like RM 10,000 paperweight.
Google software name FRAPS. U can monitor frame per second from there. Now that's really a good benchmark indicator if we starting to seeing fps'es on real games; not 3dmarks. 3dmarks could be a raw estimator, but not very specific.

I have yet to find a way to modify NVIDIA shared memory allocation through BIOS. For Intel GMA, this can be done through BIOS. For now I believe current NVIDIA graphics has its own method for sharing memory according to RAM installed. NVIDIA should benefit more from greater amount of RAM installed. I used RivaTuner only to justify the exact details of my GeForce 8400M GS card (DDR3 version not DDR2). I too don't dare to overclock it because I ain't an overclocker elitist. My advice: don't try to overclock if you think you're a noob in this just like me. I hate sending my laptop to repairs.

First Encounter Assault Recon is a first-person shooter developed by Monolith Productions and published by Vivendi. It was released on October 18, 2005, for Windows, and ported by Day 1 Studios to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The first expansion pack, F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, was released by Timegate Studios in October 2006. The second expansion, F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate, was released in November 2007. A direct sequel was announced by Monolith Productions. The game's story revolves around a supernatural phenomenon, which F.E.A.R.-a fictional special forces team-is called to contain. The player assumes the role of F.E.A.R.'s Point Man, who possesses superhuman reflexes and combats an army of cloned soldiers, and at the same time uncovers the secrets of a paranormal menace in the form of a little girl. A related Dark Horse comic book was also packaged with the DVD. Along with the Director's Edition, F.E.A.R. Gold Edition was released. Gold Edition included the Director's Edition and Extraction Point. F.E.A.R. Platinum Edition features the original game and two expansion packs. Extraction Point is an expansion pack for the horror themed first-person shooter computer and video game F.E.A.R., published by Vivendi Universal and developed by TimeGate Studios, rather than Monolith Productions, the developers of F.E.A.R.. It was released on October 24, 2006 for Windows and requires the full original game in order to be played. Also, a stand-alone single player demo has been previously released. This expansion owes its name to the game's ultimate goal for the player, to reach the extraction point and leave the city where the adventure takes place. Extraction Point adds new weapons, enemies, and single-player levels, but no new multiplayer content. Additional improvements were also made to the enemy artificial intelligence. Unreal II - The AwakeningHigh settings playable on my Dell Inspiron 1420 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @ 1.50GHz Memory: 1.50GB 667MHz DDR2- SDRAM Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (128MB DDR3) Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 OEM (Dell) Drivers: Microsoft DirectX 9.0c (Nov 2007), NVIDIA ForceWare G86 v156.19 WHQL XPUnreal II: The Awakening is a first-person shooter video game, designed initially only for a single-player campaign. The game is part of the Unreal series. It was developed by the now defunct Legend Entertainment, published by Atari and released on February 4, 2003 for Microsoft Windows. It was later ported to Microsoft's Xbox on February 10, 2004. The main character in Unreal II is ex-marine John Dalton, a Terran Colonial Authority Marshal whose job is to patrol remote areas of space far away from any real action. He is called back into service to retrieve seven pieces of an ancient artifact thought to make a powerful weapon when assembled. The plot follows a set path like many First Person Shooters, with the character going to various planets in search of the artifacts. Level design at each location is also single-pathed, with a certain amount of puzzle solving and key finding. Environments on each planet are quite diverse, ranging from tropical to desert, bunkers and industrial installations, and alien cities. During several missions the player must hold a location against waves of incoming enemies, in some cases using NPCs as support. Overall it is a short game, comprising only 12 missions. Unreal Tournament 2004High settings playable on my Dell Inspiron 1420 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @ 1.50GHz Memory: 1.50GB 667MHz DDR2- SDRAM Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (128MB DDR3) Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 OEM (Dell) Drivers: Microsoft DirectX 9.0c (Nov 2007), NVIDIA ForceWare G86 v156.19 WHQL XPUnreal Tournament 2004, also known as UT2004 or UT2K4, is a futuristic first-person shooter computer game developed by Epic Games and Digital Extremes. It is part of the Unreal series of games and is the sequel to 2002's Unreal Tournament 2003 and a successor to the original Unreal Tournament. The major addition to Unreal Tournament 2004 is the introduction of vehicles along with the Onslaught game type, allowing for larger scale battles. Besides introducing new weapons, vehicles and game types, Unreal Tournament 2004 also contains everything released previously in Unreal Tournament 2003. Consequently, Unreal Tournament 2004 completely replaced Unreal Tournament 2003 on store shelves. Unreal Tournament 2004 boxes sold in the United States include a $10 mail-in rebate requiring that a short form be completed and sent to the publisher along with a copy of the manual cover for Unreal Tournament 2003. Versions sold in the United Kingdom had a similar offer, but required sending in the play CD for Unreal Tournament 2003 instead. Its successor, Unreal Tournament III, was released 19 November 2007.
