Hm... I wonder. Have been searching the net for benchmarking of Crysis using DELL XPS M1730 but couldn't find any (except the demo version which is not optimized for Dual-Core yet).
Any of you guys here stumble across any sort of review and benchmarking consisting Crysis and Call of Duty 4 with DELL XPS M1730?? |

I think he meant "desktop" with the 2nd time "laptop" he mentioned.
I don't say it's impossible to game on laptop, but if u r graphic-whore or benchies/fps-junkie, get a desktop. Even 8800gtx mobile wouldn't hold new games too long especially for our type of gamer.. SLi-ed 8800gtx mobile? That will do high settings at least 6 months from the time it launches, but that depends on how much money u grow and how tough are you to carry around a 9-10 lbs laptop. Might as well get a desktop, if u asked me. This post has been edited by derred: Dec 7 2007, 05:34 PM |

Gears of War
Resolution and Video Settings: 1024X600, all visual settings to High, except shadows on Low. System Specs: Dell Inspiron 6400 Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Version: 5.1 Service Pack 2 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz, 677MHz FSB System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:15, Stepping:6 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2 Chipset: Mobile Intel 945PM Express Chipset Built-in memory: Kingston Dual Channel DDR2 677Mhz 2046 MB BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A17 GPU: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 Hypermemory Sound: SigmaTel HD Audio HDD: Hitachi TravelStar 5K100 5400rpm Misc: ATI Catalyst 7.11 Hotfix, DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904), eBoostr. Comments: The graphics in this game is awesome; with all the eye candies, it does come with a price. Having said that the performance on my laptop is playable in my opinion (although it dips down to 10fps, for the most part, the game still feels smooth), unlike Crysis (which I'll probably do a benchmark on it in the coming days) which kills my laptop so badly. Is just that we, as users of WinXP home will have problems with the game launching; the sound stutters a bit too, not sure what causes it. Overall the game is very engaging and it constantly puts you into intense action. This post has been edited by Onyx_black: Dec 8 2007, 04:56 PM |

But I'll find the time (at least on weekends) to update this topic for the benefit of the community. In the meantime we need contributors from the enthusiast category too. |

Crysis
Low settings playable on my Dell Inspiron 1420 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @ 1.50GHz Memory: 1.50GB 667MHz DDR2-SDRAM Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (128MB DDR3) Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 OEM (Dell) Drivers: Microsoft DirectX 9.0c (Nov 2007), NVIDIA ForceWare G86 v156.19 WHQL XP Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter computer game developed by Crytek and published by Electronic Arts, and is the first game of a planned trilogy. It was released on November 13, 2007 in North America, November 15 in Australia, the following day in Europe, November 23 in New Zealand, and November 29 in Japan. Crysis is based in a fictional future where an ancient alien spacecraft has been discovered deep within the Earth. The single player campaign has the player assume the role of United States Delta Force operator Jake Dunn, referred to in-game by his fieldname- Nomad. Nomad is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a "Nano Muscle Suit" which, according to Crytek senior game designer Bernd Diemer, was inspired by the United States' Future Force Warrior 2020 program. In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies, in four different locations: a tropical island jungle, inside an "Ice Sphere" (consisting of the same jungle, but frozen), the alien ship itself (with a zero-gravity area) and an American aircraft carrier. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) for graphics rendering, and includes the same editor that was used by Crytek to create the game.
