Far Cry

High settings playable on my Dell Inspiron 1420
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @ 1.50GHz
Memory: 1.50GB 667MHz DDR2- SDRAM
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (128MB DDR3)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 OEM (Dell)
Drivers: Microsoft DirectX 9.0c (Nov 2007), NVIDIA ForceWare G86 v156.19 WHQL XP

Far Cry is a first-person shooter computer game developed by Crytek Studios from Germany and published by Ubisoft on March 23, 2004 for Windows. Far Cry sold 730,000 units within four months of release and has currently sold over 1 million copies worldwide. The game's story follows an ex-Special Forces operator, Jack Carver, who is stranded on a mysterious archipelago in Micronesia. He is searching for a female journalist he was escorting after she went missing when their boat was destroyed by mercenaries. On April 8, 2004, Ubisoft announced Far Cry Instincts for the Xbox, GameCube and PlayStation 2 systems. Far Cry Instincts graphically resembles Far Cry, but is not a direct port, rather being made from scratch for consoles. The PS2 and GC ports were later cancelled because the systems were not powerful enough to support the game. Far Cry Instincts is now exclusive to Xbox and was released to wide acclaim on September 27, 2005, in North America. Another version, Far Cry Instincts: Predator is also available for the Xbox 360. On March 28, 2006, Ubisoft released a sequel, Far Cry Instincts: Evolution for the Xbox, which was met with less enthusiasm than the first version of Far Cry. A game based on the franchise was released as part of Ubisoft's launch lineup for the Wii (Far Cry Vengeance). In the Wii version, the Wii Remote is used for many of the tasks assigned to buttons in previous iterations of the game, including driving vehicles, shooting, and running. Far Cry 2 has been officially announced by Ubisoft, although it will not be developed by Crytek, but by Ubisoft's Montreal studio. On September 1, 2007, Ubisoft released a single player-only version of the game as ad-supported freeware on FilePlanet, although this was temporarily removed when non-US residents downloaded the game. According to Ubisoft, the offer is no longer available. [from wikipedia]

I tot my lappie will play this game at medium like FEAR too. sweat.gif FEAR is equally dependant on both CPU and GC. So it might be my CPU majorly bottlenecks the performance in FEAR series. But voila, Far Cry plays at highest! This is the power of NVIDIA GRAPHICS! The way it's meant to be played. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Yup we need more contributors. Especially from the other camp too (ATI). Although anybody with Intel GMA who want to submit benchies and screenies please do so. It would so informative then. smile.gif

i dont like oc-ing cause i've always had a worry i would blow something (remnant of the days when i had to pay myself to maintain my pc. and i had no money then.)

As stated in the first post of this topic, optimal/standard convention should be at 30 fps. But everything from 20fps is considered playable to me personally. icon_rolleyes.gif

Nvidia to launch GeForce 9 series in February
Monica Chen, Taipei; Emily Chuang, DIGITIMES [Friday 30 November 2007]

Nvidia is ready for its next-generation GPU launch. According to sources at graphics card makers, the company plans to launch its GeForce 9 series GPU after the Lunar New Year in February.

The first chip to rollout of in GeForce 9 family will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing. The new product will also support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, revealed the sources.

In addition to the D9E, Nvidia will roll out a mid-range GeForce 9 family product named D9P in June 2008. The new GPU will adopt 55nm processing, the sources pointed out.

Dota With Vostro 1400

currently i only have warcraft 3 inside my lappy and with the growth of blue-server, most ppl will consider the lappy whether Dota with high setting is playable or not. for the below benchmarking, i set all detail to high detail with resolution at 1280x800. the game still can run at good 50+ fps
from the 3dmark 06 this also notice that with 512mb ram, 8400m GS also can reach 1.4k probably with 2gb ram the score might even reach 1.6k

Perfect World Online, 1 of the most popular online game which set to overtake WoW. With 1280x800 resolution, Perfect World Online manage to cripple my system and running at 10 fps due to 512mb ram. Thus i do believe, with 1gb ram, Perfect World Online will be able to run around 20-30 fps with medium setting. Below is the screen shot which setting is at medium

Good work, keep on gaming, stevenlee. icon_rolleyes.gif So, you're more into those MMORPG stuffs.

It's cool because now we have contributors from various gaming preferences. Nevertheless we need more contributors, such as hardcore gamers and from the ATI fans. Intel GMA gamers can post their screenshots too. All are welcomed.

In several years back, I only try a lil' bit of Ragnarok Online, and many online sessions in Star Wars- Jedi Academy. But nowadays can't. sweat.gif Me personally just don't have enough time to dedicate it on online gaming cuz this gametype requires more time to actually feel the fullest experience. It's good to be an online gamer, I didn't doubt it. nod.gif

hmm.gif I have yet to find a time to download that demo. Since my bro already got the full game but I haven't borrow from him yet. Let's see what your Crysis benchmarks will look like. I'm particular looking forward to because we have the same graphics.

Due to internet connection problem last night, i was not able to provide crysis benchmarking. However, i provide benchmark on CnC3 which is one of the popular game from Crysis developer as well. from the default setting, the CnC3 will automatically set the setting to low detail @ 800x600. However, in my benchmarking i change the resolution to 1280x800 while other setting remain the same. Below is the screenshot from login, setting as well in game for 5 min. Overall fps was nice and steady at 30. Even at low setting the image for CnC3 still very sharp and nice. Overall this 8400M GS is very impresive card as my fren running intel 965 chipset with X3100 was not able to run the game (might be due to other things which i not so sure as my fren told his IBM machine T61 was not able to run).

Understood. Surely your friends' Intel GMA X3100 can't compete with your graphic since his is an integrated part. sweat.gif But perhaps he could contribute benchmarks with some other games that he is playing now for us? Anyway hope you succeed with your Crysis thing. icon_rolleyes.gif
