Dont really agree on the view on small shop.

Once my 10+ years car driver side window stuck, went to two big centre quoted me 500+ because need change motor whatnot. Incidentally I went to a one man shop and he able to fix it by changing the hook which only cost a fraction of the price.

And I asked him to check my central lock that spoiled for years that those big centre either quoted 200+ or lazy to do because need open up dashboard and ask me go accessories shop, this shop able to fix it at rm50 parts and labor.

My biggest despise of those big centre is from one workshop that nearly charged me rm8k on changing absorber that the insurance sum assured only rm10k. Fck him.

I go small one.. boss sendiri buat kerja. Good workmanship. No foreign worker. Boss really get their hands dirty, so bz until no time for lunch. Boss also no issue if customer bring their own spare parts. As a matter of fact he even encouraged customer to bring their own parts. Sometimes boss even advised me how to pick good spare parts. I really salute such kind of honest workshop owner.

I always bring my parts to this kind of shop. But sadly my trusted pomen sudah meninggal during COVID.

Now have to look for alternative which doesn't have genZ shit pomen who doesn't even remember which nut belong to which section.

"Big service centres" or rather manufacturer appointed service dealers are also not Berhad companies.

Many people still fail to realize there are professional review management companies around to help you "boost" your business' positive reviews.

Honestly I dont really trust google reviews anymore. laugh.gif

you can as long you bayar + kasi valid reason for removing them.

Me own 7 chinese takeaways here in the UK bro. Each day/week/month will suddenly have people post photos, reviews, etc demolishing your business credibility with nonsense and ver make sense post.

You just have to try deal with it. Its the same too, with amazon, taobao, tripadvisor whatever.

Coz if service is OK, nobody bother to review. If service is bad, then they will so eager to give bad review.

Noted...

I avoid those whereby big boss sit down at the counter and main phone....

But sometimes it is also hard to judge a person's character...require time to find out the truth...

So, do survey around, ask around and you need abit of luck...

I did tried this last time...my very old car was leaking...I was pretty sure where the leakage originates from...so I go around driving my car to several workshops around my area..asking the mechanic to check and see what went wrong...

U be surprised some of the answers that were given to me.. I just pretend and listen their beautiful story..

Bro, let's put this this way.

100 comment, 90 5 stars and 10 terrible reviews, might be nothing for you, but in fact, business would rather had 90 good star comment, regardless of how honest or credible the 10 terrible comments is.

But the chances it happens also wont be that big la, coz my shop not stacked nearby.

actually many small workshops are also insurance panel workshop.

but if they are bad, why insurance companies want them become their panel workshops?
*
Not sure if insurance companies use good service is a measure of making one workshop a panel....
think its more being honest in repairs / pricing at best.. to using the most cost efficient way to do repairs. hence i dont think being a panel is a good measure of quality.
Small workshop .. bad reviews...
big workshop.. also bad reviews
guess you will need to do your own research and go see the operations yourself.

Same tactic one, quickly check and dismantle some components so that you can't leave. must leave the car there until repair finish.

Con you this need replace, that need replace, quote you expensive price claiming original part. Then its some refurbished OEM shit laugh.gif

especially those aunties that duno car, can only agree and pay laugh.gif
