The reason why the group is called rusted jacket is due to rust build up under the front seats. Apparently they didnt apply antirust on the seat base in the early models from 2012-2013

Mine is 2015, no such issue

Sticky door pull is unacceptable though, but its just a <100 bucks fix for all 4 doors
I'm still running a 2009 E60, ok jer. It had a slow coolant leak, which I found out is actually from a leaky overflow hose. Cheap fix

I did had a 5 figure repair bill on the E60's gearbox, but that's due to bmw's stupid advise of "lifetime transmission fluid". Expensive lesson

Also had a 2015 F30, which also leaked coolant. The overflow tank bleeding screw sudah reput.

Having said that, both ada oil leaks and can be fixed by changing valve cover + gasket

Recently added a G20 to my collection, so far still too new to tell.  But from both older cars, you can tell its due to bmw's way of running the engine at 110c

Will probably reprogram the G20 to run at 90-100c once the warranty runs out

if u notice all running the same symptom since the E series

oh yes, their lifetime transmission fluid term only applicable if the car send to the junkyard after the 7th years onwards lulz

Yup. After my ZF6 died, for my ZF8 I just changed the fluid outside at 40k km even if its under warranty. The SC wouldnt know anyway

Touchwood the ZF8 is still silky smooth

G30 any year also uses the updated B48 engine, but still has coolant leak problems.

3 areas to look out for which is the coolant flange, oil filter housing, and cylinder head return hose.

These are all made of plastics and can crack over time. There's aluminium equivalents for these from china but most workshops dont recommend using them

Maybe a better solution is to use original plastic parts + reprogram the engine to run at lower temp ~90c+

2016 320i facelift, petrol model... using b48 engine. Maintenance wear/tear avg per year i standy by 5k just in case.

Services
Oil change/filter= rm500
Gearbox oil with filter =rm900 (This expensive but only need to change every 30-40k km)
Diff oil= rm300
Air filter/aircond filter= less than 200 because shopee cheap2..

Other than that so far ok. but i less use the car only weekend. But this model need to check ALL the cooling hose from engine to the radiator. If harden or u see the hoses turn brownish then better change all hoses to prevent coolant leak.

Diesel no comment. Anyway diesel model very less now in the market. If got also very high mileage.

Ya BMW and their leaks memang famous. If your BMW dont leak, then it's not a BMW. Coolant and oil leak specifically. Even the B48 TU also same problem adui

"New" vs "brand new"

Both describe something recently made or unused, but "brand new" emphasizes that the item has never been used or owned before.

"New" could refer to something recently acquired, even if it's not technically brand new.

Combination of plastic parts and high temperature engine at 110c....some mechanic say not recommended to tukar the parts to aluminum cause it retains heat and make things more worst.

So yes in short prepare 10-20k a year for the repair/maintenance fees.

But actually leak coolant or oil is easy to detect and if change/repair early then no problem one. Usually it's the few most common parts like valve cover gasket, thermostats, coolant pipes etc. Most problematic is some hidden valve/pipe/bush/parts that cracks and you can't see it easily...

When considering a used F30, go only for the LCI petrol variant (320i or 330i) with the B48 engine.

Avoid the hybrid 330e.
