i thought retirement can be anytime?
if work for gov, i want to retire at 50, do i get pension?
*
yes you can retire anytime. from employee perspective you're free to retire at any age you want. but from employer perspective, raising retirement age to 65 means they cannot simply just let you go before 65 y/o if it is a permanent employment position. if they do so you can sue them for compensation.

govt retirement at 50, you can get pension if you have already served X number of years, but there is a detailed calculation on how much you get, it scales according to your years of service

If I'm not mistaken, EPF already moved 50% of their funds from oversea investment into local GLC as instructed by PMX since September 2024

I think less than 5% this year
*
So EPF is not independent of gomen?

Seems like there is a connection:

1) High dividend for 2024
2) More people are investing voluntarily into the fund
3) Increase the retirement age

So we can only withdraw after 65 years old??

Ok then

Fark govt for raising it. Pundeak betui. For slightly higher interest (6.30%) than FD rate (3.7-3.8%) better park my fund in dividend stocks or somewhere else

CPF life i think quite good also

but one thing is that bank need to allow senior like >55 to get loan etc. as long got "CPF life" to consider as part of the income.

I think EPF will implement monthly or yearly withdrawal after 55 instead of one time all witdrawal.

Yes is the way to save people from themselves.
Maybe to reduce processing, allow annual withdrawal
