It's expectable retirement age will be expend, during the time retirement age of 55 is set, the average lifespan worldwide isn't that long, it's foreseeable the retirement fund will not be enough if still following the old logic.
I came across a news from US few days back, that's a robbery committed by a granny which is 78 y/o because her retirement fund finished.

It’s kind of surprising she didn’t try going through SOCSO, especially since it’s meant to help with work-related injuries and health issues. EPF is really more for retirement; not for covering medical costs. If she’s been contributing to SOCSO, she might actually qualify for benefits, maybe even a medical pension, depending on her condition. That’s exactly what SOCSO is there for.

I actually know a few people who went that route and ended up getting medical pensions. Sure, it takes some paperwork and follow-ups, but it’s a legit option that’s really worth looking into.

Now they’re getting both their EPF and monthly medical pension — the best of both worlds.
