i had to interview an old man today he's 48. I'm not HR but for my line of work my boss usually sends candidates to me for interview because i know better than HR in terms of what to ask. only after i vouch the candidate then HR takes over.

so today this guy came with resume but no certificates like spm diploma degree etc etc but in the resume says got. he claimed dunno where he kept because so long never go interview. last position before resign was almost 15years working for the company. reason he resigned made sense but i won't disclose here lah.
my question is if you were me then what will you decide? is it normal for old people not to have their certs anymore? mind you this position is not engineering or something of that calibre.

this is my first time encounter this kind. is it ok not see his certs but just take him based on his work experiences? after all he almost going to pencen oredi .

Is is asking salary high above market level?

Does he have enough knowledge about your company's business model and activities?

Can he perform in the job he is applying? Did you test him on the requirements of the position he is applying whether he fits in?

Is he convincing in the subjects that relates to the job? Salary got ask higher than the rest?

What kind of job level he is applying? If kuli/low level don't think too much can give him a chance since he needs to feed family/survive. If manyzer/senior exec level, lost of qualification cert is no excuse that's bad flag for the person's character.

Lost of cert but make no effort after 15 years is bad flag for a person's character. He can lose his cert which is important for job search, he can also lose your company's important documents in future if not careful.

That time you even have more headache.

When young looking for job, employer asking for experience.
When old looking for job, employer asking for certification?
