QUOTE(Carlos_Santan @ May 2 2025, 07:01 PM) i had to interview an old man today he's 48. I'm not HR but for my line of work my boss usually sends candidates to me for interview because i know better than HR in terms of what to ask. only after i vouch the candidate then HR takes over. so today this guy came with resume but no certificates like spm diploma degree etc etc but in the resume says got. he claimed dunno where he kept because so long never go interview. last position before resign was almost 15years working for the company. reason he resigned made sense but i won't disclose here lah. my question is if you were me then what will you decide? is it normal for old people not to have their certs anymore? mind you this position is not engineering or something of that calibre. this is my first time encounter this kind. is it ok not see his certs but just take him based on his work experiences? after all he almost going to pencen oredi . are you not able to evaluate if he is qualified to do what the firm needed him to do? ie qualified for the job? just ask all the relevant technical questions to evaluate... a cert is basically useless after so many years. having said that, I better go look for my degrees and spm/pmr/upsr certs too. haha

I can understand if you lost your SPM cert, but Diploma and Degree?
That's the most important certs for any job applications + professional cert.
You can always request from university/colleges you graduated

I think its more the HR... cos sometimes certain departments of a company like HR is a stickler for processes and documentations. and it is really silly to require a 48 years old person to hand over his/her degree cert.

If the job requires a degree, then you'd want to sight and evaluate the degree. If the job requires a higher level certificate and the candidate has that certificate, why do you need to sight the SPM certificate?

afaik SPM cert is only required by govt related job because they want to filter out those who fail or didn't take SPM, e.g. those with UEC cert. So what does your company really need the SPM cert for?
