No ppl can fight he unifi 500mbps 119 free 6 month public ip good speed buy own asus router don use tm crap router

Even now me 500mbps, sometime imgur also very slow load
*
In terms of pricing, whoever owns the infra has some unfair advantage due to the HSBB setup only by TM. If today TM decide to kill off all its competitors renting the last mile infra, they can easily set 500mbps for rm50 and 2gbps for rm100.

QUOTE(jacktiew @ Jul 9 2025, 09:44 PM)
I think you can ignore the loyal "pro" unifi user haha
*
Hahaha, just need to get people to understand reality, not only what super loyal fans
said about Unifi.
QUOTE(hsbb @ Jul 10 2025, 12:09 AM)
Yes, really slow during night when I access US server but really fast when access JP or AUS server, weird! Maybe I should access US server during their night, not ours. The shopee app also slow too when using wifi with my 98% full damn phone. Damn
*
Do you change your own Asus router? Should be quite fast, according to someone.

QUOTE(keong8867 @ Jul 10 2025, 09:09 AM)
I see a lot of post saying that the new application for unifi will get a free ipad. I wonder is there any promotion for existing member? Do we get ipad as well? If yes , how to get it? Need to upgrade the speed? I.m using SWU 3.0, 500mbps now
*
Please also look at the contract period, usually those come with devices will have 36 months contract. Ideally if you are aiming for low price, should only get those with 2 years contract and then change to SWU plan.

If I select 6 months waive it will lock for 2 years contract or else will be 3 years if I select for Ipad or TV.
*
Not worth if the price is 149. You can try port out from Maxis and get Maxis to counter offer.

QUOTE(keong8867 @ Jul 10 2025, 04:39 PM)
I,m paying RM119 for 500mpbs currently, SWU 5.0 RM90 is better. I have a few month more then the contract is finish. Do I need to call them first to talk about this?
*
Read up few pages in this topic, use the termination method.

QUOTE(linkinpark @ Jul 10 2025, 05:30 PM)
They told me. I need apply the astro fiber to opt out unifi. Only to get them (unifi) to approve on this RM90.
Even i get approved this RM90 is very basic. No more free 600minute call. My parent still using the DECT phone and unifi number.
*
Sorry for you... you just sign up for worst deal for 500mbps. A lot of ppl here get the Rm90 using termination method.

QUOTE(kwss @ Jul 11 2025, 01:55 AM)
I am definitely in the camp of throwing money into network because I like it. Just like how people throw money into collecting cards and figurines.

Just so you know SingTel's starting speed is 3 Gbps for SGD 40. They aren't exactly the cheapest telco in Singapore.
Here we cannot even sell 300 Mbps for RM 40. Don't you think we are being milked to the max here?

Let me give you some context about telco gear. You buy them with upfront cost. You then pay annual fee for maintenance contract.

There are various licensing fees (port speed tier, BNG) but depending on negotiation power, you can get many of those for free.
I used to negotiate with Juniper and got so many free stuff. TM is a national telco and they are buying from China company which are known for cut throat business model. I have to assume TM got them for free as well.

Let me give you one example of core network gear, the Juniper PTX10004:
https://www.juniper.net/us/en/products/rout...rt-routers.html

Each line card has a capacity of 28.8Tbps. That's terabit per second. After you bought the chassis and the line card, that capacity is there, whether you use it or not. Maintenance fee is also the same. So is the cost of human capital. Is TM paying more in term of human capital compared to SingTel? I am sure their physical asset don't cost as much as well because land price in Malaysia is a lot lower.
Let's say you install 3 line card and keep one slot as hot spare, that's 86.4Tbps per chassis. What do you do with all the excess capacity? Just let people use them.

Then there is the IX cost, which basically comes down to port fee. You pay X per month for Y Gbps.
How much is X? The cost of a junior engineer in Singapore. This is for 100 Gbps port fee.

The only remaining variable cost is IP Transit, which is billed at 95-percentile.

Sure the population of Malaysia is 4x more than Singapore. That also means the market is 4x bigger. Even they charge RM 50 for 500 Mbps as base plan is quite a profit.

That screenshot clearly shows there is no SFP+ port.

wt .... 3/7 submit and receive call 10/7, I'm wait since 27/6 until now, bro still left few month contract right? I'm out of contract since dec 2023, morning must chat with them lol.
*
Even if convert the SGD40 to RM, still cheap. TM can't even sell 3gbps for RM132.

Hi all. I'm new to the discussion. I'm currently using Time for my existing condo, but I'll be moving to landed residential next month, so no more Time for me. Planning to get Unifi, but those SWU sounds so tempting for us, however it only applicable to existing users, correct? Any possibility for new application to get similar deal?
*
No. You have to subscribe the normal plan, stay loyal for 2 years and then only apply SWU plan.

If already out of contract & can downgrade to let say 100mbps with renew 24mth BUT still no new cpe. Better terminate the account & register new 100mbps. Same 24mth contract but new installation with new cpe.

Can see how many who successfully 500mbps@RM90 get new cpe. Whoever get it because not getting replacement for a long time.
*
I still believe it is wise to stick with old ONU rather than new CPE which is all in 1. At least can easily use custom router.

My 6 months free bill is over, I dont think TM would entertain me if I tell them Astro is offering me something cheaper?
Paying the full RM149 for 500Mbps at the moment
*
I assume your contract still more than 1 year, since you just finish the free 6 months. They won't be fool by any "astro" offer as the penalty is much much more if you jump over.
If contract left few months maybe possibility quite high.

May I know the updated SWU offer?

My current plan is 100mbps RM99 per month (ONU 300mpbs).
Anyone willing to share how to get a better one since my 2 years contract has expired

I know there's people who only pay peanuts for RM59 for 500mbps 👀
*
Try ask for Rm79 100mbps or Rm90 500mbps. The details on how to get it are in here, just read the last few pages and you should know what to do.

any promotion for new subscription unifi? wanna migrate from maxis fiber biggrin.gif
*
Promotions for migrating customers are:
- Free 6 months bill.
- Free TV or free iPad.
However do be aware that those free TV or free iPad will contract you for 3 years, which means you cannot change to SWU for 3 years. Please check properly the contract period before you sign up, or best go to Tmpoint and sign up direct.

By default, you won't get public IP for 100mbps. But you can try show proof of CCTV to TM and request for public IP.

Nothing is impossible, it's just a matter of how many years before it comes. 2018 speed upgrade, then 2023 another speed upgrade.

anyone know if the call-forwarding is a subscription based?

*
Yes it is a subscription based. can call 100 or visit Tmpoint to subscribe, not limited to business users.

Yea, Singapore has gone from GPON to XG-PON to XGS-PON while we are still at GPON
They have a mission to deploy 10G for every home starting year 2026.
Right now all telco has 10G plan under SGD100.
Viewqwest is the cheapest with 10G being the only plan they offer at SGD45 without discount. With discount is like SGD35.

All these telco talk about people don't want high speed is a propaganda so they can continue to milk you without spending extra.

Everyone want cheap and fast internet. But all these telco will have data do show that people don't need high speed internet.
*
Very true, and even now with 100mbps to 2gbps, international routing keep suffer during night time.

Not planning to get Unifi SWU plan? Usually people stay on for special SWU plan like the Rm90 500mbps.

Hi guys, My friend house was using maxis fibre previously. Unifi called with an offer to transfer and they accepted it. They then proceed to terminated the maxis fibre.

But Unifi cannot come to transfer and set the new connection because according to Unifi, the maxis fibre line is still in service (maxis mentioned its terminated).

anyone experience this before and how to solve? thanks

now there is not internet in the house lol
*
That's because the person or agent do not follow proper procedure. If want to change provider, should use the switching method just like MNP, not the terminate and resubscribe method. With proper switching method, there will be 0 downtime. Can even run both Unifi and Maxis for a week or 2.

I don't think it's posisble to have Unifi and Maxis running concurrently these days once they switched to the transfer ID system.

I know it's possible back then.
*
During the transition period, while your Unifi is installed, you can still run your Maxis fibre for 1 whole week until Maxis terminate the account.
I've done that when switching from Unifi to Digi, and from Digi to Maxis.

What I mean is using Maxis and Unifi at the same time on the same modem

Is it still possible now?
*
Not possible. According to Digi/Maxis, TM doesn't allow it. What I mentioned previously can only happen during the transition period when you switch ISP.

Go Tmpoint and look for plan 500mbps free upgrade to 1gbps. Previously there is such plan, with monthly price Rm159. But the free upgrade is for the first 2 years, after which it will revert back to 500mbps.

*
If you plan to upgrade, go direct to 1gbps. The upload is better as compared to 800mbps.
