Something wrong is going on with my connection
Its so slow when loading website but speed as usual 500mbps and ping is normal when playing video games
Rebooting my router helps but the problem will come back within a few hours
If you are using the new config, aka combo modem+wifi unit, then best bet is to do basic troubleshooting of the problem you are experiencing. Like how bro
blacktubi recommended, replicate the issue if only one device is experiencing the issue.
Next, you need to state what config of network setup you are using now, either standalone unit (old), or the combo unit (new). Since you are partaking in Unifi discussion, I assume you are using unifi.
Take note:
1. Fiberhome ONR reported the most to have problem with stability.
2. Skyworth (white) ONR reported with having wifi issues, and rebooting solves the issue based on the complaints I received from my clients.
You are not required to invest on a third party router, just troubleshoot, narrow down the issue, replicate the occurance with other devices, then customization can take place. Then you can validate if appropriate investment required to purchase a new router. Again, it depends on your use case. I don't say the equipments given by the ISP are crap, most of the time it is no good in terms of security, and features. Those days, Unifi's stock router like DIR-615 shipped with tons of features, the famouse Innacom / Innatech has one of the best features built-in, the Archer C5 is one of the best supplied by TM, also the famous DIR-842 - ability to flash direct to Openwrt (need to see hw revision). Now, they are locking down their own equipments by providing basic, and nearly non-functional features.
The most recent units given by Unifi was FiberHome SR1041F (some forumer posted the vulnerability of this unit) & SR104Y was decent, except for how lousy the UI of the router compared to DIR-X3060Z by D-Link.
