that brand mercusys BE9300 no good lol

2.GbE for all RJ45 is good bet I would say for such price. If the user is general consumer, then the unit will be sufficient, unless they are planning to run a homelab, then recommending a good brand will do.

I am using Wifi Only. Would be very happy if I can get >800mb around the house. Currently only my phone and laptop can support wifi7.
*
Bingo. If you are just using wireless devices, then you made the right choice, also keep in mind to check firmware updates perhaps once a month, else if you set up auto firmware upgrade, then should be fine.

New unifi 1/2Gbps user now will get Wifi 7 combo, no more black skyworth. So existing 1/2Gbps should start request for black dlink replacement. I think TM better give now black skyworth for 800Mbps users & below, should no more white Skyworth. Damn black skyworth before only for 1Gbps above, even I willing to renew contract still can't. Now what will they do with the left stock?
*
What model does Unifi give now for Wi-Fi 7 combo unit?

user posted image

Just checked. A standing combo modem from Skyworth SK-D9673, BE7200.

Seeing the spec sheet there's XGS-PON.
So does this mean we can use it via SFP like Anime4000 ?

Depends on the soc SDK.

I still remember paying RM129 for 1Mbps on Streamyx for years. Was rather jealous seeing KV get 10Mbps and higher speeds back then.
Now, finally paying less than that Streamyx price but getting 500x more speed smile.gif
Fair enough. I believe my yearly usage reaches 24TB, yet yall here are doing that on a near weekly basis hahaha
*
My monthly usage is averaging around 2TB - 3TB. But, there are other forumers who is more hardcore than me.

The unit exclusive only for 1Gbps and 2Gbps users. Heck I mentioned I wanna buy one unit from TM, and willing to pay fees for the technician to come over to install at my premise also kennot liao. I will try my luck when my contract ends.

They won't. Unless you request to change with additional contract renewal or purchase the unit at your cost.

I zoom in the photo, it says 2.5GE WAN. 2.5GE LAN.
The official spec from Skyworth is 10G LAN port.
Can someone verify cos papa's eye is kind of old.

Maybe yenchenje is right all along, the casing looks like XGSPON but inside it's still GPON crap.
*
As for the spec, the unit uses 2.5GbE WAN/LAN. However, if TM provide 10G LAN port now, it is considered overkill at the moment. We need to wait for our fellow forumer, Anime4000 to inform us on the unit status, as he has insight access to get the specs officially.

Just want to ask any sifus here: are there any advantages if I use the Skyworth (AX3000 GN630V) box over the old, silver Alcatel ONU on a 500Mbps line?

TM technicians offered to change it when I renewed the contract, but I declined because I knew nothing about the device other than it being a combo box, and fearing it might break my current setup. They said they still have to give the Skyworth box even if they don't install it, and so they just left it here.

Now reading around these forums, it seems the Skyworth box in bridge mode allows for easier configuration of 3rd party routers because no need to do the VLAN500 tagging for PPPoE? Also if I obtain the PLOAM ID and password, I can potentially switch to my own ONU?
*
I used the silver Alcatel Lucent (2013) and was given the new black Nokia (2018), working perfectly since then till now. These ONUs are good up until 1Gbps only, except you willing to sacrifice a few (x)Mbps to retain your third party router installation.

P/s:
It will be good if TM offers a pure standalone ONU perhaps those with 2.5GbE / 10G for power users (purchased separately from TM). While common people might ignore this option, hobbyist or power users might consider this option overall, still tm can make money. I don't think so the ONR given by TM is really secure or free from CVEs.

Yes. As the video said, you need to know the ONU login and password set by the technician who installed at your house to safely access the router (otherwise, you need to reset and you lose all settings) and also need to know the IP address so that you can login in the first place. There were users on LYF who tried years ago, but failed.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4151797/

Seems that the ONU is just hard locked.
Yeah, if there was a standalone option I would take it as well. Quite interested in the GPON sticks offered by Anime4000 on this same board but I think it is overkill for my 500Mbps line. Maybe somewhere down the road if I get SWU 1Gbps or something.
*
So far, AFAIK, providers like Maxis is confirmed giving 2.5GbE ONU for 1Gbps & 2Gbps users, for celcomdigi, umobile, I am not sure. Celcomdigi has their own FTTR solution already anyway and edit: they indeed giving 2.5GbE Wi-Fi 6 router now for high tier plan. For uMobile not sure.

Thanks for your info.

Do Asus merlin or openwrt support DoH nextdns? Compared tplink stock firmware or open-source router firmware which one reliable?
*
Asus merlin and asuswrt only support DoT currently. I, some other networking clients requests to the asus team to consider implement DoH, and used TP-Link as reason as TP-Link is now supporting DoH and DoT for selected product lineup of theirs. I used openwrt last time, but I cant remember. RouterOS support DoH out of the box.

I wont say what he said had happen, we need further clarification from actual 500Mbps users. Then we can come into conclusion.

I would not be surprised though, given how many people moved up to 500Mbps recently making it one of the most subscribed packages. Maybe only 1Gbps and 2Gbps will be public IP soon.
*
Your explanation makes sense in terms of logic, especially what happens when 300Mbps users assigned with private IP. Means, there is possibility 500Mbps users will be assigned with private IP; especially after massive amount of users port in to SWU 5.0 for 500Mbps package at RM90/month. But again, I would wait for other 500Mbps users to reproduce the event to draw to conclusion.
