Most likely that won't be the case. Even if sanction happen to OnePlus, it won't be affecting old device, the 1 that will be affected will be upcoming device after sanction.

Using Google and it services won't be an issue for those device pre sanction. What might happen is whether manufacturer will be keen to provide timely update to old device.

Yup if go for Samsung flagship & apple then surely won't face any problem. Reality is those willing to fork out the money to buy Samsung flagship or apple won't even consider flagship of OnePlus, honor and others china flagship. Exception will be those from vivo because of it excellent camera performance.

Just look at the number of pages of thread for flagship device. The popularity of the device speak for itself.

Kinda true but these days flagship Honor, Xiaomi and even Huawei phone are basically about same price range as Samsung. Camera spec wise, those phones might be better but for software support, I think Samsung is still the best among the bunch. As for Apple, well... if you're into iOS camp then you don't really have a choice, right?

As for Google services pre sanction device, I won't be so sure. This round Trump administration can and will do anything as they like. Heck, they have current free trade agreement with Australia but guess what, they still impose tariff on Australia (which has been paused for 90 days). This goes to show that the current administration doesn't give a damn what is already on paper today as they choose to do what they like tomorrow. Let's not forget that Honor is basically another branch of Huawei.

Anyway, hope it won't happen so those folks out there can still enjoy their Honor, Xiaomi phones for as long as possible.

Their launch price is around the same or just slightly lower than Samsung. The thing is no people will buy those china phone at their launch price, mostly will just wait them to drop price massively post launch.

It's true that in term of support, Samsung is better. Camera wise video taking they are still the best and photo most probably only vivo is better. The rest of flagship like Xiaomi & honor are fail at their software level post processing although it come with better hardware and resulting in poor image/video quality.

Sanction wise I don't think it will affect google usability on pre sanction device like what I am saying previously. It's just a matter of whether they willing to provide support/update to those device pre sanction. China phone got a track record of slowing down update after new model launch anyway. If got sanctioned then it might be worst. Just I don't see the need for them to sanction other china phone brand. Those phone doesn't place a threat as market share is relatively small and their relation to china gov is not as deep as Huawei.

Other China brands are not directly a threat to US but it is more as a bargaining chip for US. Similarly China is launching investigation into US companies in China. Those companies are not a threat to China, it's basically a bargaining chips.

Question for china rom users. How do you setup the phone on initial start?

I am coming from pixel and even though there's google play services and playstore.

I resort to the built in clone phone app to transfer the apps and data over.

Any way to setup the phone like pixel?

Another issue I have is too much bloatware and many of the apps/settings seems to be built for china only, and there's no english. For some reason it is also slow to load for these apps. The theme store where you can buy custom theme loads at a crawl.

There's also things that are built into the system and cannot be removed. The AI writer seems to only function for china apps like wechat, xhs, etc.

There is no special step needed to activate China rom. How you use glabal rom is how you use China rom. Except this, manual GMS activation under setting section. App notification need to enable manually. Other than that is the same.

That's right. Let them inspect and even if they demand owner to pay for repair I think it's also better than fixing outside? Considering this phone is not something hot in the market and genuine parts could be difficult to find.

I insert L-shape usb-c earphone.
The phone drop to floor vertically and the L-shape usb-c hit the floor.
Then it jam stuck inside.
Forcefully taken out the usb-c.
Now the hole already loose, no clicking feel when insert the usb-c.

USB c is just a small case. Worst case scenario just involving replacing the USB c flex pcb. Just a problem of order for part, replacement wise need to open out a phone.

It's an easy job for service centre & phone repair shop. Those repair shop surely will potong you for at least 200 and above. 2 year back my ancient mate 10 pro USB port spoiled and not able to charge. At that point of time those repair shop quote me around 250 to 300 to fix it.

At the end, I am ordering part myself flex pcb, screen glue and the suction cup and got it fix for less than 30. Just sharing my experience here, in your case your phone is new. Just send it to official service centre and told them it suddenly become like this after u pull out the USB c cable. Better don't diy yourself, there are risk of damaging your glass black plate and screen in the process of replacement.

Yup. And you will void the warranty of your phone as well since yours is a official MY unit.
