I think it's still worth it. There may be not that many new games coming out anymore..but there's a whole LOAD of old games which are worth playing. Many mentioned already in the previous posts.
GOW 1 & 2, Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, Okami, MGS2,3, all among the best you can get. Whatever genre you like you'll be able to get it! Think it'll still last a quite a bit especially with all the games it has. And for Pro Evo fans..the ps2 version is the best one out at the moment apparently! |

Many mentioned already in the previous posts. Yea, but at the same time, all those games wont be out for PS2 anymore in the future... As in MGS4, pobably GOW 3, Okami 2 (sixaxis! that'd be cool, difficult tho), etc. And games like FIFA, Smackdown vs RAW, and all those others that are released yearly wont be on the PS2 anymore in years to come... "worth it" isnt really the word to use... i mean, worth the money, then yea, coz its cheap... but u gona keep playing the old stuff...GOW 1 & 2, Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, Okami, MGS2,3, all among the best you can get. Well of course those games you mentioned would be purely for the next gen consoles but you should at least play the prequels to the game? especially if they were kick-ass! what i'm saying is that if you're someone who wants to buy ps2 for it's GAMES, it's still worth it cause there are SO many to choose from and so many that are still available. ( plus, it's cheap here, compared to the ps3 console/games )
Of course if the guy is interested in just playing the NEW stuff..then by all means, get a next-gen console, but if he's interested in GAMES, then PS2 is still a safe choice! |

lol. fat is the better one apparently. bigger = bigger fan = less overheating.
no idea about a used set. you could check out the Garage sale part of the forum. new one should be around 450+ ? |

Mmm... PSP not exactly portable, you can play on your big TV screen now using component cable, thanks to latest PSP slim, you are able to output your game to your TV using component cable.
PS2 on the other hand, have tonnes of classic games, FF10, DMC, GOW, which these games is not available in other console. What I would say is that the PSP is actually PS2.5, just a bit upgrade from the previous one, few newer game (exclusive games). I do suggest that you buy both of these console. |

Due to the release of PS3, the PS2 is practically dead (ok, rephrase: the Future of PS2 is practically dead), just like how the PSone was when PS2 was released.
HOWEVER, not like you've played any of the great games PS2 offered already. Yes, they may be old, but heck, they are GREAT!! Who can forget classics like Final Fantasy, God of War, Devil May Cry, and my personal favorite: all of the Ace Combat series. Unless you are into a race of being the FIRST to play the newest released game on the market, then you can forget PS2. But if you are here to enjoy good games, get a PS2 (cheaper than a PSP, way greater performance and games than the Portable), and yes, its dirt cheap now with it being on really low demand!! compare with GameCube and Xbox, PS2 still have a lot of upcoming games. Eg in EA titles, NFS ProStreet still has PS2 version, but not on Xbox and GameCube. And practically, Xbox has been officially declared death, big titles which appear on X360 will never appear on Xbox anymore.
IMO, if you just invest on only 1 console, it isn't that wise to get a PS2, why not look for PS3 model which support hardware emulation? [the first batch of PS3] but I don't know whether it can run backup PS2 games or not This post has been edited by dattebayo: Nov 14 2007, 02:06 AM |

do research on what game you wanna play and which console the game can play on. then decide your budget. then only buy.
IMO, dont buy ps2. buy psp or next gen console if you have more budget |

First of all.. the ps3's CANNOT run our pirated ps2 games.. so unless you want to get ORIGINAL ps2 games..then by all means..
the beauty of the ps2 in this context is that you can get games for cheap. rm4-5 a piece compared to a ps3 game which would at min. cost rm 150-ish. IF you have the cash, splash out on BOTH ps3 and ps2 dreamcast was great! but they don't sell it/or it's games anymore rights? Hmm. |

IMO, not quite worth it coz the PS2 is coming to it's end liao. no new game releases for next year at all.
if u buy now, u'll be playing just a fraction of the games available coz most of the good old games are difficult to find liao. e.g: i still can't find any of the old Ratchet & Clank games or Jak 1 & 2. better use that RM400-500 and get a PSP or DS or best, upgrade yo PC! lol! |

hold up... if ur gona consider previous gen (has next-gen become current-gen yet or not?) dont even consider Dreamcast and all that crap... Get to the point... PS2 is the one man... No matter how many fanboys u bump into, u cant change the facts... PS2 is the best selling console EVER... And go for the fat one (if u can still find it)... coz they sed slim version got problems... however, sony announced newer PS2... check that one out and see...
