It is worth for anyone who's just getting started on owning a game console or financially-ready (aka personal saving ler..) to own a PS2 ?, what is really the future of PS2 & will there be a newer titles compared to other console like PS3 & Xbox 360.

Plus, what is the retail price of PS2, PS3 & Xbox 360 recently in KL ?

from my personal opinion, no.

get the psp instead. there are hardly any new good tittles for
the ps2 except for sports games.

Just wait for the 40gb version of PS3..will cost u not more then est RM1400

just helped my colleague bought a new slim ps2 recently from our beloved sifu bernard. but take note my colleague only plays winning eleven day and night so he just dont care about new games release for ps2 in future

ohohoho....very very worth it...that is bcos u still not yet meet my brother KRATOS yet... go introduce your fren with my brother KRATOS and i guarantee you, your fren will get hooked to his/her ps2 like crazy..and then my ex gf YUNA? very very worth it lah...i tell you..

Aren't we forgetting Yakuza 2? PS2 have a great back catalogue of games. Onimusha, Xenosaga... it's convenient to just pop in a disc and play on a big screen. psp screen is small and the chances of losing or breaking it is high. not really comfortable gaming on psp because have to play with good lighting and squint at the screen. the games selection still can't rival the sheer variety on PS2.

i guess at the end of the day is how much u willing to spend, what type of games u fancy and how long u plan to use it...

i just got myself a ps2 cos i don't wanna invest so much in the 8th generation consoles...the hardware and games are rather costly...ps2 however is priced reasonably, has tonnes of games to choose from and is still getting in new games and on top of that still cheap to fix...my decision however is also based on the idea that i am a casual gamer...just want something tht won't burn a hole in my pocket and fill my time every now and then....

If you are buying solely just to play future titles, then theres no point getting it. However, there are uncountable loads of awesome PS2 games and if you buy a PS2 just to play them... I very much say its worth it.

Bottom line is that;

If you are just getting started on the PS2 games library, then you have multitudes of good games that will get you by until the 9th generation comes along. I'm serious, even I don't have much time myself to finish off FFXII or even Dragon Quest VIII for example.

Currently, the future releases for the PS2 games library is slowing down; I wouldn't go as far as to say really DEAD as some would like to put it.

I agree...considering the massive amount of great titles on it, u can easily pick it up and play it until u hv enough money to go to the nex gen plus a good LCD tv to enjoy it with.

Don't jump into the pirate band wagon too much...u won't enjoy ur games...instead, pick a couple of games u really like, then play it.

These are enough to get u going and enjoy ur console.

PS2, it'll be a good collectors item after 50 years later

Well, at the moment, PS2 is still the standard console and not the PS3, unlike Xbox 360 which has already become the standard as it has replaced the Xbox... However, it is hard to say if its "worth it" or not, as the price may be low, but companies may slowly stop developing for PS2 and focus on the PS3.

By the way TS dont get a PS2, get a PSP or PS3 or even Xbox 360.
all game from those console are HD!!!!!

there's a backlog of games that you havent played. it is a top seller, selling more than ps3 and 360 in japanese and us markets

it is still enjoyable. u enoyed it 5 years ago u should still enjoy it. besides, it's onlu $129.95. u guys get a better deal bc it is modded
