I think it's still worth it. There may be not that many new games coming out anymore..but there's a whole LOAD of old games which are worth playing. Many mentioned already in the previous posts.
GOW 1 & 2, Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, Okami, MGS2,3, all among the best you can get. Whatever genre you like you'll be able to get it!
Think it'll still last a quite a bit especially with all the games it has.
And for Pro Evo fans..the ps2 version is the best one out at the moment apparently!

Well of course those games you mentioned would be purely for the next gen consoles but you should at least play the prequels to the game? especially if they were kick-ass! what i'm saying is that if you're someone who wants to buy ps2 for it's GAMES, it's still worth it cause there are SO many to choose from and so many that are still available. ( plus, it's cheap here, compared to the ps3 console/games )
Of course if the guy is interested in just playing the NEW stuff..then by all means, get a next-gen console, but if he's interested in GAMES, then PS2 is still a safe choice!

First of all.. the ps3's CANNOT run our pirated ps2 games.. so unless you want to get ORIGINAL ps2 games..then by all means..
the beauty of the ps2 in this context is that you can get games for cheap. rm4-5 a piece compared to a ps3 game which would at min. cost rm 150-ish.
IF you have the cash, splash out on BOTH ps3 and ps2

He's good and reliable. i just bought a ps2 and ps3 from him. the ps2 was 500.modded of course.

well if you're looking for QUALITY games, ps2 is still worth it honestly.
and is there really a point in playing MGS4 if you havent even touched 1, 2, and 3 on ps2? you'd be quite lost. can't appreciate it as much.

I don't get ppl who keep saying there are no games for ps2. that's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard and many times too! Is it just some fanboys of other next-gen consoles say or what?!

Currently the ps2 has the BIGGEST range of titles on ANY platform and for ANY genre. true the production for new games are slowing down but it's rather shallow and superficial to say that the ps2 is not worth it just cause there are no NEW games coming out for it!
There are so many quality titles, older ones which offer hours and frickin hours of great game play. And i'm sure you all know these titles

It's the perfect buy if one cannot afford a PS3 and it's really pricey games and it surpasses the PSP in terms of sheer number of titles.
