JPJ branches directed to remove ‘no more physical road tax’ notice, stickers are still being issued – Loke

Road transport department (JPJ) branches that put up a notice stating that a physical copy of the road tax for private vehicles was no longer being issued by the department have been directed to remove them.

Transport minister Anthony Loke said the directive was issued by JPJ director-general Rospiagos Taha to branches which said the physical road tax (lesen kenderaan motor, or LKM) would not be issued from August 1, and that customers should instead renew their road tax online using the MyJPJ application.

Loke clarified that the road tax sticker is still being issued, as The Star reports.

“Several branches ran out of stock and put up a notice that physical road tax were not available, but this is not a policy decision. We took quick action after finding out branches had run out of stock and ordered new stock,” he said yesterday.

Why myjpj apps do not have this receipt?

In February, Loke had announced that owners of private vehicles would no longer need to display the road tax on their vehicle windscreen as of February 10, 2023, and could opt for the digital version. He said the switch to digital would reduce congestion at JPJ offices and counters by up to 80% and save the government around RM96 million a year in printing costs.

Last year, I went to the UTC JPJ renew roadtax because I wanted to keep the printed receipt inside my car.

Anyone using my car can show the receipt to a JPJ officer or police during a roadblock.

Anyone know if post office can renew the roadtax and give the receipt to you?

I thought they don’t use the sticker anymore? I renewed mine at post office last month, they give the small paper. Similar to the old motorcycle road tax.

If we renew the road tax at the post office, it costs the same as last time plus an extra RM 2.50, if I’m not mistaken.

The UTC JPJ office does it for free.

yup, there is a commission rate
well, basically that RM2.5 is paid so u don't have to queue or download their what queue app

worth the hassle but not worth for what you receive back is what i can say
just renew directly with the app

It is called agent fees. The post office is an agent of JPJ.

Previously, before the introduction of digital road tax, a fee of RM 2.50 was required to obtain the road tax disc/sticker.

Actually, sometimes the post office queue is longer than at the JPJ UTC branch /JPJ office (have 8 counter at least) because there are only 5 counters in post office.

Two counters are for Pos Laju, one is for road tax or insurance, and three are closed because no staff inside.

but it's not written as agent fees on their receipt, they just labelled as commission on their receipt

depends which post office u go, i usually go to way less crowded post office like kota damansara or sungei wang...no queue at all especially weekend
back in sabah, i just go actual JPJ office at my town...crowd differs from day to day but i'm not sure sabah still can get real physical roadtax or not...gonna try next year because this year still got(without asking, auto issue)
WM one i kena scam this year...so next year via app only
