QUOTE(dev/numb @ Nov 23 2024, 12:49 PM) As promised, here’s the full breakdown/timeline of my switch from iPad mini 6 to 7 through Apple MY; thanks for an update. going to do trade in for my mac mini soon.10/11/2024 Ordered iPad mini 7 [Wi-Fi 128GB) online at Apple Malaysia. Selected device trade-in for my mini 6 (Wi-Fi 64GB). Apple offered RM1,150. Maybank and CIMB were listed as the “partnering banks” in Apple’s checkout page, so decided to use FPX via Maybank Visa debit card (my credit cards are from other banks) hoping for less complications related to the trade-in process (because fruitie’s tragic RHB story scared me already) later on. 11/11/2024 - 14/11/2024 New iPad min7 shipped out on 11 Nov and arrived at my doorstep on 14 Nov. Invoice and shipping updates received via email throughout the process. No engraving, so shipped from Apple’s Singapore facility. SG-KL-JB via DHL. 15/11/2024 Did not receive any new email asking me to select trade-in method, even though 24hrs passed. Decided to call Apple Support for help. The rep organised Pos Malaysia pickup for me on 18/11/2024. 18/11/2014 Pos Malaysia picked up my old iPad mini 6 in the evening. They don’t provide the dedicated box for iPad returns/trade-ins shown on Apple’s website. You’re supposed to place your iPad into a medium white envelope (has bubble-wrap inner lining) and then place that into a box before slapping on a Pos sticker. Then you put it into another foil cover and slap on the shipping label. Remember to take photos of the packing and shipping label. Also, if you feel the protection isn’t enough, wrap your iPad in a bit more bubble-wrap beforehand, or use some of those airbag things you often get from Shopee deliveries to stop your envelope moving around inside the shipping box. *Neither Apple nor Pos will give you an exact pick-up time so you could end up wasting a whole day waiting for courier dude to arrive. If you have the means, I think it would be better to drop off the package yourself. Apple will provide compatible courier branches near your address as well as a trade-in ref number. 19/11/2024 Trade-in in arrived and processed within one day (yes, I was very surprised). Received email stating everything was in order and they would refund me within 5 business days. Interestingly, they use the term “refund” for trade-ins as well. Likely some sort of offsetting related to accounting department in order to class it as a single product transaction. 22/11/2024 Promised trade-in amount credited into my account that was tied to the debit card. The partner merchant was listed as Razer according to my account transaction history. Also, the date was listed as 21/11/2024 so I assume there’s a 1 day float period for FPX or debit card related refunds. TL;DR Overall I’d say it’s a smooth process, but the initiation of trade-in and clarity of messaging related to it needs to be better. Anything related to Apple or their longstanding logistics partner (eg: DHL) is smooth as butter, but stuff that requires Apple liaising with a local partner can get a bit lumpy. based on your feedback: 1. will try use hsbc cc (without installment). i think their problem is due to installment. 2. will do drop off as i dont want to waste time to wait for postman to come |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Dec 5 2024, 03:00 PM) Do factory reset. some info:An iPad might restart on its own due to a variety of reasons, including: a worn-out battery, overheating, software glitches, insufficient storage space, malware from unverified app installations, outdated software, or a faulty power button; in most cases, the iPad will restart to protect itself from potential damage. Key reasons for an iPad restarting unexpectedly: Battery issues: A significantly degraded battery can cause sudden restarts as the iPad struggles to maintain power. Overheating: When the iPad gets too hot, it may automatically shut down and restart as a safety measure. Software problems: Bugs in the iPadOS can lead to crashes and restarts. Storage issues: If your iPad is almost full, it might experience performance issues causing restarts. App conflicts: Certain apps, especially those not downloaded from the App Store, might clash with the system and trigger restarts. Outdated software: Not updating your iPad to the latest iOS version can cause compatibility issues and lead to restarts. Hardware malfunction: In rare cases, a faulty power button or other hardware components could cause the iPad to restart unexpectedly. What to do if your iPad keeps restarting: Update iOS: Check for and install any available software updates on your iPad. Check battery health: Go to Settings > Battery to see the health of your battery. If it's significantly degraded, consider replacing it. Manage storage: Delete unused apps and files to free up storage space. Restart your iPad: Sometimes a simple restart can fix temporary glitches. Force restart: If your iPad is completely unresponsive, you can try a force restart by pressing and holding the power button and volume buttons simultaneously. Check for malware: Scan your iPad for potential malware using a reputable antivirus app. Contact Apple Support: If the issue persists after trying basic troubleshooting steps, reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. |

QUOTE(9926 @ Apr 2 2025, 03:48 PM) Hear from my friend that charging the ipad via 3rd party charger and cable will make the battery health drop sooner compare with using ori charger, is it true? First time apple user here use apple charger is the best. 20w. another trusted brand is ugreen 20w -35w (depend on apple devices)other need to be careful as in the long run, use higher watt is bad for battery. Dont dare to use other china brand / third party as it tend to get hotter on adapter and bad for devices battery This post has been edited by ericlaiys: Apr 2 2025, 03:53 PM |

QUOTE(9926 @ Apr 2 2025, 03:57 PM) What about those brand like anker, aukey, baseus? I have multiple GAN charger at home as I used for others android devices, each will just pair to the right charging protocol when plugged in, and I thought Ipad mini should do the same...until I hear the statement from my friend which make me confuse up to you to decide. now apple dont give charger. as long follow the watt. trusted brand should be no problem. QUOTE(un_id @ Jun 15 2025, 10:52 AM) Glad to hear the new iPadOS does not left out ipad mini. Even multitasking is coming. Last time when using the Mini I really wish it has stage manager and when connected to monitor does not only mirror the ipad screen. Now it is definitely a sweet little tablet it is their vision to use ipad as macbook. finally their decision start to look bigger picture rather than restrict to M processor modelBut I’m spoiled with my super cheap iPad Air M1, got it even cheaper than the Mini. Bigger screen does feel nicer to read and take notes.. the only downside is it is not as portable than the Mini |

QUOTE(Auriel @ Nov 2 2025, 07:25 PM) New iPad Mini A17 pro user here. Just bought it 2 weeks ago. Was contemplating whether to purchase the AppleCare Plus initially. yes . it is light weight and easy to carry around. i trade in ipad air with this mini. use almost a year. u need case with bumper to protect it rather than original apple case. been few times incident but still protected as bumperThen today it happened. Since I carried this iPad almost everywhere I go(damn its just fits so well into my small bag, bringing to work, going out), this afternoon I came home and I took it out from the bag and then.. somehow the iPad slipped from my hand. The worst thing is that it had the original folio on and when I tried to grab it, I somehow only able to grab the folio part, and the iPad just detached from it aaand. "BAM!", face down on the tile floor. I thought its gone case. But upon inspecting back luckily just the corner is dented, screen is totally fine. 5 mins later I purchased AppleCare Plus. No regret. Haha.. |
