Knew about this quite some time, but keep on forgetting to share it tongue.gif

Just wanted to share with you guys, did you all know that the villain in Lilo & Stitch namely "Hamsterviel" is actually a gerbil?

Haha, although in the movie/series he does not agree to that and always say that he is "hamster-like", he is still a gerbil and his character was created and based on a gerbil wink.gif

Now, you know... laugh.gif

Haha, when creating a cartoon character based on a real life animal, they will normally alter or change certain parts. In the end they will have the resemblance, but the whole movement and character is totally like the real life animal smile.gif

See Stitch is based on a sugar glider, all movements and such, big eyes, ears, but he has really short tail compared to the real life one wink.gif

I notice my DEH nose bleed last night, then i change bedding.

Is this caused by bedding only? Cause i notice the bedding is abit dusty. I didnt put anything else into their tank except for bedding and ceramic toys.

Hope that it will stop bleeding when i check him after i finish my work.

And one more question, do they get infected by flu? Cause I've been sick for the past few days.

I heard that gerbils can get flu from humans, so try to wash hands before touching them

No, its a different thing altogether. Nose bleeding is usually related to dusty bedding

Koala? Which part looks like a koala? The nose part perhaps...

Eyes, ears, fingers, movement on four feet on the ground or up a wall, even barking are all sugar glider like wink.gif

Haha, lemme go ask the creator tongue.gif

*oppsss, this is gerbil thread tongue.gif*

As for Hamsterviel, there has been few times they call him gerbil, in the movies and even in my gameboy game wink.gif

if only stain then its like more or less... if their nose is more sensetive will be like that.. but not bleed until bedding also got or the blood is more that stain.

Once awhile for sure some slight bloodstains can be found on the nose.... all woodshavings are dusty and softwood sure produce some phenols.... but of course what we are using is much better than some other brands outside.... I use before Pestige wood shavings. Prestige line of small animal food is good quality but their wood shavings sucks, really dusty till your eyes tear and you sneeze non-stop.

The best way is to air out the bedding. Before you put the gerbils in their new bedding, just toss and turn the bedding outdoors till minimal dust forms....

Bedding allergies can be looked out... signs and symptoms are watery eyes that can barely open, very wet nose and paws, pinkish stains on the nose and paws and even blood stains. Lethargic and small appetite.

Haha.... They tend to run away when i try to grab them but the do come near if i put my hand there. Explore and nip my hand a bit biggrin.gif

Just check on my boys, no more nose bleeding or blood stains but i noticed some dried mucus on the DEH's nose. Is that flu?

I read flu can be quite dangerous.... Do i need to get any antibiotics?

Clean the dried mucus with a wet tissue. Normally flu, you will see them rub their nose often, always having a wet face and tend to sleep more.... just hike up their vitamin C intake by giving them some kiwi fruit or apple.

taking from:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stitch_%28Lilo_%26_Stitch%29

appearance

Stitch is a mixture of several miniature animals. He uses a mixture of rabbit, chimpanzee, dog, cat, tasmanian devil, and koala, for the appearance of Stitch. He also seems to have blue fur, big black eyes, huge ears, sharp claws, two antennae, three spines from his back and can change to have 4 arms to 2 arms. He stands 3 feet 6 inches tall.

history

....626 is then sentenced by the Grand Councilwoman to life in exile on a desert asteroid and Captain Gantu escorts him. Stitch escapes and crash-lands in Kaua'i, Hawaii. Disguising himself as a dog (although he actually looks like a koala), 626 was adopted by a little girl named Lilo, who names him "Stitch".
