Cold Storage accepts AMEX as well.

Customer is more piss off when retailer say "I have to charge you extra 2-3% for cc transaction". I think retailer should included that 2-3% into the price if it really necessary. Again, retailers provide cc transaction to attract customers like us who collecting point. So I think it is fair for them to borne the cost... Correct ?
It's a used car dealer in Selayang. I can't remember the name, but they only sell import car. Near pasar borong there. I will check their business card and let you know later. Car I bought is Nissan Fairlady 350Z. Thanks for the info on Harvey Norman!!   
Think this as advertising or marketing cost. Or they can included this in the retail price so no need to add fee.

Guys, for those who applied for that American Express Gold Credit Card, does your online/e-statement comes seperately from MBB AMEX Gold Or is it combined into one statement?

It is a fact that Amex is not widely accepted, be it in M'sia or overseas. Therefore, you still need to bring along MC and/or Visa card for backup. I only use Amex cc in petrol stations and hypermarkets. Besides, I also use Amex cc if my Alliance CCs have hit the monthly rebate limit.

You pay RM5 for Amex Gold cc statement?

The statement option is clearly stated in the application form. RM5 will be charged monthly if you opt for paper statement instead of e-statement. I would suggest you to check with the CS, otherwise RM5 could be charged and shown in your next month statement.

This is where VISA and Mastercard come in handy 
In the States people use AMEX charge card to pay for private jet plane bill as well as to pay for Bentley, Lexus etc. You might want to give it a try

There is private jet charter service in Malaysia. The fee is HUGE. It costs >100k from KL to Middle East.
This cc gives good rebate for GE premium but small percentage of rebate for other transactions, and no reward points will be given.

If they were inviting me, and I would utilize the privileges, I would personally pay it myself. We're here to express opinions and give suggestions, I'm not as childish as to ignore another's monetary aspects just "because it's not my own money"

As I said, if it's really useful, I think it's worth the price and prestige. Not everyting has to be measured in quantitative benefits. (i.e. I must save more than RM2.3k before I pay out an annual fee of RM2.3k) There're other qualitative aspects as well. Don't be such a chinaman, might I say.

Also, if 2.3k in a year is relatively immaterial to the person, what's the big fuss?

According to Bank Negara, the indicative exchange rate for 12-Aug-09 is 3.5245. Seems like all 3 transaction of yours is on the high side, with about 400 to 800 base point higher. For bank draft, we can get about 200 base point higher. With Mastercard, not uncommon to see about only 100 points higher or even -ve points (must be due to intra-day fluctuation).

You can get the annual fee waived every year actually. My dad has one OCBC/GE Mastercard and he never paid any annual fee for the card. Been using it for more than 4 years already.
Not if you have proofs that you can actually afford to pay for those luxurious items in cash at one go 
By the way, apparently now Public Bank credit card processing terminal can also recognize AMEX. Kinokuniya bookstore recently changed their credit card processing terminal from HSBC Global Payment to Public Bank's. While Public Bank credit card processing terminal now accept AMEX, it really is up to the merchant whether they want to accept AMEX or otherwise.

Although AF waiver can be considered by OCBC, I really don't like the way OCBC put this phrase in the T&Cs - "ALL ANNUAL FEE WAIVER REQUEST WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED". It sounds arrogant.

Usually I pay my Petronas goldcc using ATM by transfer my saving acount money to my credit card, not using CDM.
Go to ATM, select other transaction -> payment -> express payment -> credit card, I just key in my 16 digit credit card number and then it sucessfully transfer, how about AMEX gold cc with 15 digit account number?

OMG! My TNB and TM bills have been accumulated for 2 months now. I guess I can't wait the approval from Amex and I have to pay at least 1 month bill to avoid service interruption. A typical MBB's service!

I tried to use my Maybank Amex on last weekend (to be specific, last Saturday in Penang) in Jusco and BHP petrol station... Both transaction were failed... tried with my Amex sup card also the same (so confirmed my first amex card is in good condition)... both transactions have no issue with my Citibank Visa.

Called Maybank Amex CS, no issue on my account (very healthy... according to the CS )... no rejected transaction in the system as well. they said properly due to line issue.

Wondering did anybody face the same issue as well? If it's line issue, then this should affect everyone...

Is this kind of issue happen very frequent? I've just started to use Maybank Amex since last month due to it's good rewarding point.

Also notice that Amex is still not very popular in Malaysia... only those big merchants accept it!

Anybody from Penang is using Amex? I tried to use my Maybank Amex in Jusco Queensbay Penang on last Sat but the transaction was failed! To be exact, it's not failed but failed to go thru.

Checked with Amex CS on last Sunday and no issue with my account as well as my card (i used it for petrol at Esso without any issue on the same day). I also asked the CS to check in their system if any transaction in Jusco Queensbay happened on that day but she found none. I was told by the CS, it could be the terminal issue at Jusco Queensbay and asked me to check with Jusco as she has confirmed that Jusco accepts Amex (n 5X reward points).

This is second time I have been facing the same issue and suspecting Jusco Queensbay has no longer accepting Amex (or could be their terminal issue, intentionally or accidentally? I dun know).

Anybody has such an issue before? If you face this kind of issue, then what will you do?

Looks like Amex really need to improve it's popularity in Malaysia, otherwise I can't see a bright future for it in Malaysia...
