QUOTE(Dozz @ Apr 4 2008, 10:56 AM) Just got the AMEX new plat credit card approved and its now appear under my maybank2u account... in that case, probably we gonna to earn treats points instead of Membership Reward point. Wah Dozz going for Plat I personal think charge card is slightly better than credit card. These are the reasons - No preset limit...you can spend any amount as long as u afford to pay off each month. - Higher Recognition - No interests charge Coming back to your reasons: - No preset limit - well there is a limit for my Amex Gold Card; however, it is higher than any of my Plat CC card limit. - Higher Recognition - this to me i call it shiok sendiri, hahaha - No interest charge - you be charged interest if payment is after due date. I wont be applying for Amex Plat unless they are giving annual fee waiver. I have not been paying Annual Fees for my Amex Gold Card and CC cards for many years now. If any of them refuse to entertain my request for waiver i just close the account. |

Dozz, i just checked my statement and called AMEX, i did get 2x reward points for last month statement
The customer service guy told me that the Turbo Reward Points will expire once I reach 200,000 points. Looks like i be using my AMEX more often now instead of just using it at Mobil/Esso. |

Was browsing thru MBB Amex website and saw that 6 months interest free installments extended to March 2009. Previously it was like for 3 months installments.
http://www.maybank2u.com.my/promotions/ame...408/index.shtml This offer is really great as it is the only true 0% installment scheme as there is no handling or surcharge like UOB or CIMB. On top of that can get2X reward points (or 3x if got turbo). |

QUOTE(Mexx @ May 5 2008, 05:23 PM) This promotion must be overwhelming, that why they keep extended it. I wish to buy myself a laptop soon, probably can consider this instalment plan and get 2x reward points too QUOTE(ericchoo @ May 5 2008, 06:03 PM) I always hear people say above. I have no problems using my Amex, it can be used at all Dept Stores/Hypermarket, Petrol Stations, Hotels, Restaurants, branded clothing stores, electronic/electrical stores and most shops at 1U/Midvalley and even at night spots. Years ago, when i was studying in US, i even bought my car using Amex! Even Dell accept Amex FYI. And if the shop don't accept Amex, you got CC what.Seriously with 2X reward points and earning points for pumping petrol, AMEX is the way to go if you do not need credit facility i.e. credit card. If you go compare reward points for redemption, Amex is the best. Only 2 months ago redeem RM340 food vouchers, going to redeem another RM300 Dome and TGIF vouchers next week Since the 2x reward points was extended (i have subsequently enroll for turbo), i have been using Amex for almost all my transactions; and i have UOB, HLB, HSBC, Alliance & DA platinum CC and 2 normal CC which is just taking up space in my wallet so i leave a few in my drawer. Amex is the only card i can't leave home without |

Call AMEX this morning to enquire if my wife supp card need to register for 8X MR and was informed as long as main card is registered the supp card also earns 8X. However for my case where I have turbo points, i get 3X + 6X MR
Also to note that I was informed that the 6X points will only be given after the promotion period ends in July and not reflected in the next few months' statement. This post has been edited by Gen-X: Apr 22 2009, 08:34 PM |

QUOTE(David83 @ Apr 27 2009, 08:03 AM) I don't know what is shell or caltex rebate program. FYI, I use Esso/Mobil where you will get RM15 petrol for every 1000 smiles points (RM1=1 smiles point) which is equivalent to 1.5% rebate. Therefore with the current 8X MR and Amex cash back program where you get RM1 for every 200 points, the total cash back is 5.5% Here's the calculation: Fill petrol RM1000 = 8000 MR points = cash rebate RM40 Smile Point 1000 = RM15 petrol Total Rebate = RM55 for RM1000 petrol or 5.5% rebate. If you have turbo like me, the cash back percentage increases. |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ May 21 2009, 03:45 PM) Gold. I browse at the back something RM25. Not yet read properly all the stuff & fine-prints. Turbo 2X enrolment fees used to be RM50, this year is RM100. If you spend less then RM20,000 a year, it is not worth it to enroll. Check my blog below for more info on 2X Turbo. But for the Turbo 2X points, need RM25, right ? http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...-cash-back.html |

QUOTE(hye @ Jun 19 2009, 08:37 AM) AMEX Gold Credit Card is officially launched already. Saw the publicity write-up in TheSun newspaper today. Thh ad is in The Star too. Must say Amex Gold Credit Card is pretty good besides the 5X MR points at petrol station and book stores.Lifetime annual fee waiver. Save the hassle of calling up for AF waiver. 0% Finance Charge till December 2009, after that 9% from January 2010. At 9% interest it is the lowest in town as one also get MR points as compared to Alliance You:nique which don't give rewards points for the same 9% interest option. Seriously considering getting this card just because of the 5X MR. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 19 2009, 10:41 AM) @hye, yah, AMEX overseas transaction fees is high at 2.5%. I also want to share with you that initially I thought UOB no admin fees for overseas transaction which I got confirmation with their CS but someone did pointed out to me in my blog that UOB do charge 1% Admin Fees. Read link below:You're absolutely right. It makes no $en$e using Amex out of Malaysia because of the double conversion and the extra admin charges. When I'm abroad, UOB is my preferred CC because there are no additional admin charges Oh.... apparently one needs to be a Maybank Account Holder to qualify for the Amex Gold Credit Card, as stated in their website. http://www1.uob.com.my/assets/pdf/feesNcha.../creditCard.pdf And as for merchants that does not accept AMEX well we have our CC and for merchants that do accept AMEX, we use it if there is a benefit. Therefore no loss that we have AMEX but more to gain. This post has been edited by Gen-X: Jun 19 2009, 12:38 PM |

Ok back to AMEX topic but on CC.
I applied for the AMEX Gold CC today. Went to Maybank branch to drop my cheque for my charged card and picked up the application form for Gold CC but did not fill the form on the spot since wanted to get my wife a supp. Then read in CC thread that one needs to have Maybank account, this was not stated in the application form nor was it in the AMEX's website but was stated in Maybank's website. So I called this number 603-22958877 and they confirmed don't have to be a maybank account holder and I can just fax the application form to them with just a photocopy of my credit cards and no need submit the other troublesome documents. Faxed in the application to AMEX about lunch time. Wonder how long it takes to get it approved and want to see if the credit limit given to me will me higher or lower than my Charged Card (oh yes, there is a credit limit for charged card too). QUOTE(StupidZ @ Jun 19 2009, 09:32 PM) Actually my statement on "Credit Limit" for charged card is kind of misleading and inaccurate. The last time Amex was offering 0% installments plan, there was a maximum limit that can be charged, to me that was like my credit limit. Amex spending limit based on your payment records and spending pattern. lauyamonk: care to elaborate more on charged card spending limit? |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jun 19 2009, 11:58 PM) Guess they may just charge RM 5 for the printed statement. yes, you are right they will charge RM5 for printed statement. In the application form it is mentioned that statement will be email to cardholders. So no problems if no M2U.My guess to have an account with MBB is to have access to M2U to view the statement online since AMEX Gold CC by default as advertised in M2U won't be providing printed statement. QUOTE(Dozz @ Jun 25 2009, 10:52 AM) At first i worry about this problem too, but a friend of mine who is working with AMEX told me there is no such restriction. Anyway, i will call them up again later today and see what they say. This morning I did call them to check my application too QUOTE(guanteik @ Jun 25 2009, 01:20 PM) I am wondering if they have any records we have registered for this 8X. To me it's just sending SMS and receiving a confirmation SMS, but in their records, how sure is it we have registered... I did receive confirmation reply after I sms, however I have subsequently deleted it and got no record of it Don't worry lah, it should be in the system but you can always call them and reconfirm. |
