im renewing my passport online and i am trying to make sure my passport photo meets spec.
but when i check the example provided by imigresen, it looks like even their example photo which has the spec dimensions written, does not actually meet the specs.



so actually need to follow the spec or not?
if need to follow the spec, then i will need to edit my photo. if not, i can just submit as is.

as far as i know
all my picture taken external shop, all kena reject

the counter always ask me go to the mini shop attached to the bangunan to retake the picture

later i just go straight there take picture

Sure kena reject one.. stupid SOP and guideline.
Just walk in to the center get thumbprint and reshoot picture again at the counter.

I though now the counter has camera to take photo already. No need to bring photo because no more pasting photo in passport. Picture is embedded already

Agree. Don't waste money. Ayam even bodoh go 2 shops and pay money. Both got rejected. Just walk in and settle on the spot.

I go shop paid 6 pieces of passport photo with soft copy, Tak lepas.
Go home do DIY and Photoshop according to the specifications, Tak lepas.

In the end go to center reshoot and get it done on same day. 1 hour later collect passport

I use huawei p30, stand against the wall, then chiak chiak.

then crop, upload

dah selesai, pass!

I just renewed mine last Thursday.

Let me teach you the hax:

Apply online, upload ANY selfie taken with your phone, make payment of rm200 (this is important), then wait (they dont send any confirmation email, so dont worry if you dont receive anything).

By next working day, you will receive an email basically telling you to go to counter because your cap jari got issue and also your photo got issue.

Ignore the photo re-uploading request in the email. Go directly to immigration centre and bring along these 3 documents:

1) Printed RECEIPT of your payment (must be printed or kena charge RM3 to print at centre)
2) Old passport
3) IC

When at immigration centre they will help you to take the needed photo at their counter FREE OF CHARGE. Once all done, wait for the counter to call name for new passport collection.


Notes:
1) Don't bother to take photo at outside.
2) Bring PRINTED payment receipt, no softcopy.
3) Go to Kelana Jaya Immigration Centre if possible. Love their service, never had any issue with them for the past 3 rounds of passport renewal.

Two things I learnt from this "photo debacle".

1) Go to a photoshop, tell them you taking pic for passport >>>> taking for yourself.
2) DON'T. EVER. UPLOAD. AND. ADJUST. WITH. YOUR. PHONE.

surprisingly, i took use app, pass, go immigresen collect passport, 5 minutes settle

i ask my kid to take a pic of me, transfer pic to pc and remove backgound using free website online, then remove bright spots on forehead and nose using photoshop. 1st try lulus. collect pasport next day.

ayam renewed using outside shop photo. tell them you want renew passport upload sendiri. upload as it is no need edit2 cause shop gave 2 versions, (passport standard size and cropped version) just upload the crop version, dont ADJUST anything. just click upload dont tangan gatal think you some tech wiz.

then upload time on Sunday, i remember straight got reply say rejected or something. then ayam tried non stop. then ayam change the date for collection and did this process on weekday office hours then no more email reply straigh away one. (this means they are processing, ayam suspect sunday upload like kena the auto reply "out of office" thingy".

then few days later got receive email say can collect already. so the photo actually work, ayam suspect is either working hours and date of collection for that day full already.
