how cheap u expected for the uv filter?

fuking cheebai... brought my cam to a company dinner earlier and some of my colleagues insisted they wanted to 'pinjam' my cam to take some photos, freaking got oil over my cam from handling finger food and there's a scratch down the middle of the screen of my 1 week old SB-600.

The pics they took turned out like shit also, I set it to shutter priority told them to leave it at 1/30 where TTL will usually do it's job and fill nicely but some fella tried to act damn smart and used aperture priority, turned my flash comp upwards and fired like 4 shots in a row. Then he tried to take a pic of a neon sign without a flash and told me he was "gonna show me how I should use my D40" by turning up exposure comp to +1 in Av and then acting suprised when the pic came out blur.

Mahai... I fuking hate noobs who try to act smart.

now u have learn ur lesson. never ever let anyone touch ur camera! haha

Yeah dude there's a scratch right down the middle on the LCD of the SB-600. Don't know how but they also managed to leave a mark on my battery door... wtf. Frickin hell I leave my cam with someone for 15 mins and it gets trashed up. This particular fella who was messing around with the settings apparently has a 40D, obviously he has no idea how Nikon TTL works. This is one of the reasons why I'm not convinced about getting a D300; there will be times you need to hand other people your camera unless you only want to take shots of others but not yourself and most people who think they know a lot won't treat your things with much respect.

On another topic, somehow I managed to get some vignetting with the lens hood on the 18-200 this arvo at 75mm... weird.

NEVER EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER hand ur slr to ur "colleagues"....
unless u are there observing what they are doing...
also...NEVER EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER let them handle any PRO lenses u have...
u'll regret it! seriously!
so far....my cam is my own....if they were to take a look at the pics...i'd be holding it...

Woo, reading your post above really stings me as well! Those smart-alec really dunno how to handle ppl's things with care!

In a lot of situations you can't really do that. It's odd enough carrying an SLR around looking like the paparazi in a social event packed full of people, unless you care carry around a tripod and set it up you won't be in any of the pictures you take. Another thing which I'm really pissed off about is since this fella cranked up the exposure and flash comp all the pics look like crap... he probably thought that he needed to increase flash power for bounce flash.

Maybe next time I'm just gonna bring the compact instead.

LOL, reminds me about yesterday.
well, i just bought my Nikon then he gayat2 one loh.
he said he wanna borrow since he said he's "experienced"
in handling these type of cams. ok, lend it to him.

after i came back home, i forgot to set it auto when i lend to him.
it was on M. all the shots came black ahahahahaha!

here are those Tripod shots guys
about the third shot, i havent got the chance to use this yet.
and i found alot of scratches even a deep scratch if you can see.
but overall, ok la kot. coz i never own a tripod before cant judge much.
sorry, the other shots is abit blurry ( i suck at manual )

not bad,i prefer the first and third,
looked like the nikon tripod just like other ordinary cheap tripod with a sticker or label of nikon

to be honest, i dont know how to mount the camera onto the tripod
cheap? whats the expensive tripod looks and feels like?

the platform in your last pic can be taken out, screw to ur d40, and put it back to the tripod,
this is convenient when u wan switching between handheld and tripod..

To be truthful, I think the Nikon 90th Anniversary tripod really is a shame to Nikon itself! Such 'lau ya' tripod to be labeled as 90th Anniversary one, sigh.....
